I was on Paxil a few years ago and decided to stop cold turkey. For the next month I experienced "brain zaps" (for lack of a better word), irritability and an inability to concentrate. I ended up walking off my job because I couldn't handle it, and also cussed my roommate out because she was banging the pots and pans and making too much noise. So my point is this: Anti-depressants ARE addictive, regardless of what the pricks in the pharmaceutical industry tell you.

Wow, I was on Paxil too and got the "brain zaps". Those suck real bad and they got worse before better. I had to switch to Zoloft for a safer pregnancy. Haven't had an "zaps" since, so I don't know if I would say it's every Anti-depressant. Mine is taken for anxiety. Glad to be off that horrible drug. How they can even state that depression and anxiety are the same is crazy. Stress bring's on anxiety and can be triggered from a stressful event in the past. I almost had the "panic attacks" kicked by relaxation/exercise, but I was to close to walking off a good job, that I went for the meds. instead. I will never take Paxil again. I really don't think there's enough known about it. Good going Juicy!!! Include good food and exercise into your life, keep stress far away! |

I'm glad I'm off Paxil. Now I have the ability to feel sadness and happiness again. When I was on the heaviest dosage of Paxil, I didn't even feel sad at my dad's funeral. Good luck to you, Juicy. You're going about it the right way.

I tried the Wellbutrin HR (I think - some sort of letters) and I don't know if they were brain zaps or not, but about 20 times a day, I'd suddenly feel so dizzy I thought I was going to faint. It would last for about a minute. Stopped taking it immediately. Wasn't a high dose so there wasn't any stepping down needed.

Go and see A Scanner Darkly. It's all about depression and anxiety caused by the pharmceutical industry pedalling drugs. |

good job juicy, if you just keep reminded yourself that you're going off medication you've been on for awhile it helps you not feel fucked up when they totally withdraw from your system. *love*

Paxil is awful. It really should be taken off the market. When I was trying to get off it, I went to a message board about Paxil withdrawal and the stories were just awful. I felt like I had a bad flu during withdrawal and felt shakey and sick.

Paxil does that to you. You need to go through a slow, calculated withdrawal in order to avoid any side effects.
