DELL - 2 Weeks to get a computer? This normal???

I ordered a DELL computer. I usually receive my orders of just about anything 2 to 3 days later tops... They are telling me it will take 2 weeks (Oct 4th) to get my new system.

They say this is the normal time it takes to put a custom system together and test it.

I have never had to wait this long. I paid an extra $110 for express shipping and it still is going to take 2 weeks? WTF did I pay the $110 for?

It took about 3 weeks for me to get my laptop from them. I also paid the extra for expedited shipping.

I guess, for Dell, this is normal.

2 weeks is normal for dell. express is pretty pointless on a pc that is being pre-sold. you can probably call them and take off the express shipping
express is the best on the outlet/refurbs at dell

Never pay for the fast shipping option. I go with the free shipping option with them and it never fails I get the item the day after I get my shiped email.
UPS never takes longer than 2-3 days max anyways.

They have always told me 4 weeks and I would receive it with 1, thats with 3 computers. They may have changed since, but I was under the impression they purposely over estimated.

The specs are sent to China, who outsource it to Indonesia, who put it together, and ship it back to wherever the hell you are. This takes about two weeks, plus shipping.

That's the Dell Business Plan(tm).

Dell sometimes ships servers out in 24 hours and sometimes weeks later. Everything depends on what is in inventory, obviously. Their goal is to get everything out ASAP. On the server side of things, they generally custom build and ship within days.
