Ya and there's a lot more martial arts that are better than karate.
karate = joke

If there's more than one overweight blackbelt at the place you are training at, I'd consider something else. Seems like karate always has a ton of fat blackbelts.

I doubt it. Karate isn't trained against a fully resisting opponent. I took it for years as a kid, worthless shit mostly.

I'm a black belt in Karate and I admit that most of it is useless. Its somewhat good to get in shape AT FIRSt... but when you hit the higher belts, you are allowed to get lazy.

Proof is in the thousands of black belts with beer bellies

I know that kata. I must have done that kata 5 thosand times at least. My dad made me work on that form daily for years. To this very day I hate kata's and don't understand thier value.
