My whole life people told me I was a dreamer till I became successful.

It was a tough road I cant lie. I remember all I could afford was hot dogs, cup a soup and Macaroni and cheese.

whats your story did you succeed against all odds?

Struggles aand frustrations will always be part of my life. I'm just happy that I still see myself surviving and improving throughout these years.

I don't think you can say against ALL odds if you live in America or Europe or similar. Becoming successful while growing up in Sudan would be much more impressive.

And of course "success" is subjective.

But to answer the questions, yes, I persevered through some pretty tough times and worked my ass off.

in 2001/02 I thought I thought I was a "success", but all that turned to shit and now I'm a failure.

Not really, though I am pretty lucky to be alive at this point I would think. Started out life dead, had to be resuscitated… a lot of close calls over the years. Financially I’m doing ok now but if I wasn’t such a lazy fucker I could be doing so much more. Overall I’d say that I’m not successful against all odds.

i have made and lost money twice... enough money to make some people sick or say "i would have put a gun in my mouth"... i love what i do.. i enjoy the journey more than the destination... i will continue to succeed and i will continue to fail, but i can look myself in the mirror everyday and honestly feel good about what i have accomplished... to me, thats all that matters...

I believe that everyone has some odds of being a success. If someone really thinks they have no chance at all then I doubt they would even try.

A situation is just that, a starting point for personal choices on your road to success. Some of course will use their situation as an excuse and others for motivation. The choice is up to the individual though.

Cliff notes of my life:
Born into poverty 34 years ago.
Grew up watching siblings and living off of welfare.
Parents divorced when I was eight, father got custody in CA. So you can imagine how bad my mother was.
As a young youth only money I saw was the money I went out and earned.
Many times for christmas my father gave me one of his possessions as my gift.
I would spend my 13th birthday in the hospital becoming paralyzed.
Schools passed me upwards without meeting my requirements because they could not afford and did not offer adaptive PE classes.
Had to go with the HS equivalency test to get out of high school or I would need to take several years of PE and summer school PE.
Made a lot of money via my BBS.
Lost all of it and then some to an early Internet scammer.
I pay doctors and hospitals more than my house payments, yet I now own my house and well I still pay doctors and hospitals.
I refuse to quit and am always willing to fail as long as I fail in a big way.

It's a long story, but YES

I don't think that most things happen by chance. You have to earn and plan your success, and work very hard towards it

Nah, odds against me sure.
I know others must have had it worse and have done much better.

I have never been homeless, never got addicted to drugs (ok once to steroids in the hospital when I was 13), nobody was a crack head in my family, and so forth. Each person has their own obsticals and each person can overcome them.

Thank you though for not only reading it but the kind words.

If you desire full story and assuming search will work properly. There is a huge Q and A I did.

Yes spinal injuries will be solved, but they will not work for most past injuries like mine.

Considering how much negativity was around me when I first started (barely making it through school, very little sales and parents discouraging me), I think I came out alright.

Success is relative. I have had many ups and downs along the way, but have come to realize, everybody has some sort of obstacles and demons in their lives. Some its money, other's it can be emotional... some are lucky enough to have both or more!

I started making money in adult in mid 2000. I dabbled in mainstream for several years before that, but never anything serious. (If I only knew then...)

I was an only child and born into "money." My parents has a successful retail/wholesale business that stemmed from farming and grew into more with ice cream, food etc. Unfortunately, my father passed away suddenly when I was 12 and my mom didn't have the business mindset that my dad had. Eventually the business failed. We lost that, our home, our vehicles and everything went straight to hell.

I was never into school... I rarely went, especially after my dad died. So I quit when I was 16, in 9th grade after failing 8th grade twice for lack of participation. I was never against learning, just not fond of the formal atmosphere. By the age of 16, I was more qualified for "life" than many people that were graduating college with degrees they would never fully utilize. Being part of a business and struggling through other life obstacles teaches you things they never mention in school.

Since I started adult, (always the traffic end, never content) I've been supporting my mom financially, found out a lot about myself and others, made a sickening amount of money and lost it all several times. I made many many mistakes but have learned from all of them. Once again, I'm bouncing back from a long and tiring 2 year battle with hard times.

Stress sucks but I am glad I can appreciate things that others take for granted. I don't think life would be any fun if everything was just handed to you. It would be rather boring. I met the love of my life, Napolean, right here on GFY and doing everything life throws at us together is infinitely better than going at it alone. Everything happens for a reason, and because of my current happiness, I wouldn't change anything that happened on the road to where I am now.

Have to agree there.

I've had some freakishly good years, and some bottoms...I'm on a very nice pace back to where I want to be and the vision this time is much different.
