Any IIS server gurus here? "Server too busy" error

Could anyone help me with this:

The page cannot be displayed
The request cannot be processed at this time. The amount of traffic exceeds the Web site's configured capacity.

A search showed me that one cause of this is "VB DLLs used and found that the most utilized DLL was marked as "retained in memory."

and another is poor ASP coding.

Could anyone let me know how to check for the first error? I am lost when it comes to server administration.

Thanks so much!

i'm not a guru but maybe you should restart your server or check the setting to allow more bandwidth to the particular website.
Why don't you contact support ?

Thanks for the help
I did restart the server several times to no avail.
I think it is the settings that are the issue, but I have no clue on how to check/edit them.
EV1 is not responding yet, and the server is important, so I am looking for outside help.

In IIS 6.0 right click on the web page in question, go to properties --> performance. check what your settings are there. Its possible bandwidth throttling has been turned on.

You need to install the web tools package, from there you can do more without the lame web based interface crap. EV1 is unmanaged, they won't respond on purpose.

Thx.

"Limit the total network bandwidth available for all the websites on this server" is UNCHECKED.

"Website connections" is set to UNLIMITED.

Anything wrong there?

Something that is strange to note is the main site doesn't work, however the forum does. The forum runs on the same server.

Has anyone made code changes recently?

Also, check the event logs (icon in the admin panel) for any application errors.

Sorry, I don't have ICQ on the laptop I'm on right now, otherwise I'd jump on and try and help you directly.

No something is configed wrong in iis. Or mysql. I run 80 sites and probably 95 databases on a windows box and have never had that happen. iirc there is a setting in IIs that concern similtanious connections.

Ok It could be this.

Go into iis and right click on websites. Goto properties, and under performance make sure website connetions is set to unlimited.

Yes, it is set to unlimited.

Reset the server like 8 times today, still nothing.

Anadrol FTW !

But seriously you need to get a remote desktop connection setup for your "web server admin" to seriously see what it going on ... I would do it for you but I would not be able to do anything until I get home ...

There could be a variety of things going on with the server. Look at the even logs and see if there are any outstanding issues with certs, sessions, mem leaks, CPU uitilization, run some metrics with the server tool, check all aspects of the IIS config that have been previously documented by your admin upon set up.

That should give you some help if not hit me up ...

P.S. I have helped out other company owners in the past from GFY including Dave from Holio.net with his Exchange server so if anything I do know my stuff.

Thanks so much Rick.

The problem turned out to be a DDOS attack. Rick was very helpful and had the problem solved promptly. Steps were taken to ensure that this does not happen again.

Thanks Rick!
