4 into 2 = 4 into 1 (motorcycle shit)
I just turned my CB650sc Nighthawk 4 into 2 exaust system into a 4 into 1 system.. by brute force.. I sawed off the pipe on the left hand side.
Now I have a 1 inch round hole I need to plug, and it's gotta be air-tight and high heat resistance. I was thing I don't have any welding experience.. or tools.. Is there some kind of tapered metal plug I can buy maybe, that screws into the hole for an air tight seal? That would be the best option. Anyone got ideas? And I've helped lots of you guys with your websites, so I'd appreciate if anyone has some knowledge in this area, share the love!

BTW, I built an aluminum mounting bracket, and put a brand new CBR600 pipe on the right side.

Haha.. well, I can run a cork plug for now... Honestly, I just don't want to dismount the exaust system from the bike again.. I feel sure there's a decent solution that will last me this season, until I rip the bike apart again for next year.

Right. A 4 - 2 exhaust is for midrange power - ideal on customs and tourers as they don't have any agility.
A 4 - 1 is for top end power good for race bikes and nowt else. The best thing you could do is to get your exhaust welded back to standard - sorry bro but that's the truth... If you really want to persist with the CBR6 end can, then you'll have to get the hole you've made welded up, a Dynojet kit and a shop with a dynomometer to set it up properly - all that will cost a lot more than you've bargained for (my last dyno setup cost £160). |

Oh the exaust was chopped cause it was rusted to shit, and I got the brand new CBR can for free.. It's a major performance improvement. The CB650 4 into 2 is really a 4 into 1 into 2 pipe anyways, cause the CB is a very sport oriented engine -- But there's no way in hell I'm putting out 300+ dollars on this 18 year old bike when it runs fine, and looks better with the CBR exaust.
I guess everyone agrees it's a weld job.. no-one has any temporary ideas?

cut a patch and drill and pop rivet it around the hole

anything you try to put on would need to get welded.
if you try to plug it the back pressure would blow it off. if you try to thread the pipe someway, and screw a cap on.. it may work for a little while then vibrate off. like i said. just weld it.. less headaches |
