VBulletin 3.6.0

Already looking at it and planning for it. It will probably be a little while though, it may not happen until Thanksgiving Day.

In this latest upgrade, they did some major changes on the versions of both PHP and MySQL required. Here at GFY we already way exceed those minimum system requirements. The downside of this upgrade is that it requires core changes to the database tables. That means that ALL tables require a FULL re-index, and also that ALL the post counters must be rebuilt as part of the upgrade.

I've got a clone of GFY already built to test on, and see exactly how long this will take. But considering we have over 10M posts this upgrade might take many hours to do. I have no true data on the time required, it might take many hours to do. That is why I need to do a ton of testing, and why I am planning on screwing myself by doing it while everyone else is stuffing themselves with turkey an football games on a holiday.

I'll post more details as I get closer on the upgrade. And I'm already working on a shitload more features that will blow peoples minds to go with 3.6.0.

Whoever told you that is talking through thier ass.

You dont have to 'rebuild' anything in 3.6.0 just upload the scripts and run a 5 minute 'upgrade' script.. Which doesnt do any re-indexing of tables / data.

Already saw it do an always MANDATORY counter rebuild from many a clean 3.5.4 upgrade. Also it does need a full re-index of the databases too, because of fundamental changes in the search, unless you want a shitload of more induced errors in the search. Our search is already crap, and I'm looking to fix that once and for all. I know because of the development work I do for other clients.

But then again, maybe my 30+ years of database design and advanced systems programming for Fortune 100 clients was all for nothing.
