Isnt there a US law about having a porn domain name?

As I recall there was a lot of talk about creating a US law(applicable to US companies and individuals obviously) that requires porn sites to have a domain that accurately reflects the porn content and any other domains with porn on it were illegal? What ever happened to that proposed law anyone know?

The law prohibits the use of misleading domain names for porn sites, ie: carebears.com, whitehouse.com, etc.

Since most domain names are not so obviously misleading, this is open to much interpretation and therefore may lead to some headaches for many people.

I think the law is you can run as many porn sites as you want, use practically any name you'd like (within reason) and make as much $$ as you like, but as soon as you start making more $$ than the gov't I believe that is when they attack you and try to shut your sites down LMAO

The Department of Justice broke this new law in with a bang in 2003, arresting John Zuccarini. Zuccarini reportedly was a notorious typo squatter, taking advantage of individuals who type domain names incorrectly. Zuccarini apparently was the owner of Teltubbies.com and Bobthebiulder.com which directed individuals to a porn site known as Hanky Panky College . For these actions, Zuccarini, the first individual arrested under the Act, was sentanced to two and a half years comteplation of his deeds behind bars.

yes, John Zuccarini got his very own law, just for him.
nice.

If you ask one of the handful of attorneys specializing in adult Internet law instead of trusting your freedom to opinions on GFY, you'll find that there is indeed US law governing adult sites without the words "porn" or "sex" in their domain names.
