they don't know they are being ignored, so they won't stop, but if everyone stopped ignoring the sig spot people and started calling them out when they do it, maybe we can all make it so that it isn't an accepted practice

You do have a point, but I've found when I've done similar in the past, I've missed much more than I've saved myself wasting time to. Maybe make yourself a marker in the list and see if things change in a month or three; you'd be amazed to see how things can change.
