NEED hard drive help - GoFuckYourself.com

Hey does anyone know how to install a hard drive that is bigger then the bio will allow? For some reason this peice of crap computer wont find this westeren digatal 40 gig hard drive. I have tried every possible jumper setting I have a compaq presario processor is a amd-k6 3d 312 megs of ram Anyone know anytyhing about this???

go to the western digital site, download section, they should have a program to do this, I'm guessing you're running win98? if so, there is some tweaking you need to do, I have a very similar setup to yours, installed a second HD with no problems, but there was an utility you have to run so the puter can see the HD...

I can help,
I do need to know if you are on win2k or win98 or other.

Also You need to use the data life gaurd tools disk that came with it. Format and Partition the HD. You might even have to change it to ata 66 the new drives are all set at 100.
IF your are running win2k you even might have to turn off
a setting in the bios.

If the problem is the BIOS, go to the Compaq support site and download a bios update.

Flashing a Bios is the LAST thing you want to try. Mess it up and the chip is toast. Turn on ICQ tom. I know how to do it if the system will take it at all.

Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
