Yesterday my uncle was in a motorcycle accident in the mountains and died. He had only had the bike a few weeks. I spoke with him when he got it and told him I hate them because I feel they're too dangerous. Now, just a few weeks later, he has to go and prove me right.
My family are on their way to my house right now. One of his daughters is torn up emotionally about it, of course. His girlfriend is as well. I fucking HATE motorcycles! |

My condolences to you and your family.
I like dirt bikes for fun riding, but not road bikes.. Too much dependance on other car/truck drivers to be aware.

Anyone who rides a bike should be required to take a training course first. He was in his 50's and had very little experience on motorcycles. But of course he didn't need no stinking training course! Hell no! No way will he die on a bike! Not him! It looks like he just ran off the road into an embankment and died instantly.
Fucking idiotic decision! I'll kick my son's ass if he decides to ride. |

i agree - and the bike owners will say 'they just don't understand' - i guarantee you if I could talk to the ghosts of people who died on a motorcyles and asked them if they feel differently now most would say they had been foolish- EASY to say you wouldn't feel differently before you're dead .............. although McPheer has has two major crack ups and he still says he is going to keep riding.

Are you psychic or something? How the fuck do you know what a dead person would say? I have several friends that have died riding, and I feel comfortable saying that they feel the same way I would: Don't mourn me, I died doing what I enjoyed most. Sorry about your loss Donny, but if he was having a good time, so be it. We all have to go sometime. |

Condolences, Donny. Nobody should lose a friend or family member in such a way. I still have small bouts of depression over a highschool friend who died - biking while drunk. Wrapped most of himself around a pole.
My (recent) motorcycle issue happened last week. My idiot stepfather must be having his third mid-life crisis. He put the ramps on the back of the truck to put the bike in.. tried to drive it in, and it flipped over on him. He got hurt a little, but god damn if he didn't deserve it for being an asshole.

I am sorry to hear that. My husband was on a bike when he had his accident and that scares me away from them even though I know it wasn't his fault as he was hit by a drunk driver I just associate bikes with pain.

Man I love bikes but I don't trust other drivers so I don't have one.. Sorry to hear your uncle was killed on one.
You have to think of one thing though.. There are a million things that you do that can get you killed. Sometimes I wonder how I survived my teenage years. So at least he went out doing something he enjoyed rather than getting killed while working or something like that.

My dad just told me he went to see my uncle's body today. There's a lot of bruising on the upper half of his body and his nose is broken, but the weird thing is that there is no blood coming from his nose or any of the scrapes on his body. That may indicate that his heart stopped beating before he died. It's possible he had a heart attack and wrecked because of that, and was dead before he crashed.
My uncle drove rather slow because he was still getting used to the bike and had told his daughter he was a bit scared of it. Another uncle has requested an autopsy. We'll see if that tells us anything. |

It is very sad and I'm very sorry to hear that. But just like everything we do everday we take calculated risks. Bungee jumping, skydiving, skiing, swimming, riding a motorcycle, crossing the street, driving a car, fishing, hunting, riding a wave runner, eating sushi, it doesnt matter. That stuff is what makes life worth living. If you live in a protective bubble your whole life its a worse tragedy IMO than dying doing something you enjoy.

But realistically you should never take a shower again, only baths. You would be amazed how many people die when they slip while taking a shower. Wouldn't that just be selfish to take a shower, slip, die, and leave all your relatives to grieve just because you wanted to take a shower instead of a bath? Seriously, it is human nature for people to think that IT (whatever IT is) won't happen to them. Everyone dies, everyone has to deal with friends/family dying, that's part of life, it only really hurts those people that were somehow dependent on the the dead person, like financially. That's why my ex-wife said I could get another bike when I got a $1 million dollar insurance policy. And yes I've had several accidents and I've had my face split in half (57 stitches) and yes I would kill to have another bike. David. |

Yes, all bikers should take a training course before they even take the test for the license, the hardest part of riding a motorcycle is not keeping the bike up, it's the ability to stay alert and know what to watch out for, and how to react to it.
Sorry for your loss. |

i hate to hear stories like this, and am very sorry for your loss.
but in the interest of preventing such a loss to others, i will opine. i have ridden sportbikes since 1968. all fast, high powered bikes. never been hurt on a bike. i have a ducati and hayabusa in the garage right now, and right after i post this i will go ride for 45 minutes to get the emotional lift that only bikers know. statistically there is a huge influx of new bike owners in the aging baby boomer and noveau riche gen-x group. these people walk into bike dealerships and can buy a new suzuki gsxr-1000 with $50 down if they have a pulse and can sign a contract. motorcycle training, protective gear, etc. are not required. you can buy a bike without being licensed to ride a bike, and you can drive it home that day. motorcycles are not the same as bicycles. the rider needs to have a basic understanding of many complex issues which don't make any sense (such as counter-steering, target fixation, panic braking, etc) which can only be taught and experienced through training. and hyper attention, defensive driving, helmet wear and protective gear is a must for long term survival on public roads. and you should run with high beams on 100% during daytime riding so people can see you. and after all that, riding bikes is still VERY dangerous. again, very sorry for your loss. |

Sorry for loss.
I hate them as well. Not so much the ninja's and such. But definately all white trash harley riders. I believe that police should pull them over on sight because it's a G-U-A-R-E-N-T-E-E that their muffler's either do not work, or the bike's so fucking loud it could rattle the teeth out of your head. Plus a lot of these shithead's right in packs, and sit in your blind spots. A number of the careless behavior I've seen by motorcyle owners are the reason for their accidents. ![]() |

What you need to do is not kick your son's ass but find out if he may be interested in riding, and if so, get him on a dirtbike and make sure his brain develops motorcycling synapses. A training course will not do. I've been riding all my life, since I was a kid. I had two childhood friends whose parents were so overprotective they wouldn't let their kids near anything with an engine. As soon as they got out of home they got bikes way beyond their skills and were both dead within a year. What I don't understand is that any total beginner can buy and operate a bike that requires jet fighter reflexes and EXPERIENCE to operate at even a fraction of its potential. There should be a requirement for beginners to ride a small, lightweight bike for at least a couple of years, then pass a very stringent riding test before being let lose on the big guns. Truely sorry about your loss, but it's not the motorcycle that killed your uncle. |

Hit I-95 late at night and you'll always find motorcycle idiots with no helmets buzzing traffic on their kamakazi runs at 100+ MPH. They come up from behind out of no where and zoooommmmm right by you.
These fucktards are totally insane and must think they are invincible. I just cringe thinking you dumbasses, you're going to kill someone or yourself eventually. PS - Sorry to hear about your uncle. Rest in Peace . . . .
