Donny,

Sorry for your loss.

I know the feeling, a good friend of mine died a few years back, he was young, made a ton of $$ and was a chippendales dancer on the side.

One fucking teenager not paying attention ruined it all in a split second.

I was in a motorcycle accident August 2nd, Wrecked on the interstate, car with no brake lights, wasnt paying enough attention, panick stopped without thinking, basically brought bike up on front wheel at 60+ mph and slammed it down on the left side, slammed me down face first in the pavement at that speed. No broken bones (luckily) bike is getting fixed, I will still ride. If it's in your blood to ride, its in your blood

I'm truly sorry for your family's loss.

Reading the comments in this thread, about risk-taking, playing it safe, etc., for some reason made me think of the Bubble Boy...

My condolences to you and the family. Very sad.

I have been riding for over 20 years, I race dirt bikes a lot. I ride my harley and my Rice Rocket about 2 - 4 times weekly in crazy traffic. My friends tell me they want bikes all the time and I tell them no. It's crazy on the streets nowadays. It's in my blood and I can't give it up, I bet it wasn't even your uncles fault.

Sometimes its hard to say no to something when that is what is going to make you happy at that moment, or time in your life.

Once again, My condolences to you and the family.

What do you mean? Dont they give you a training course before you get your bike drivers license in the US?

Motorcyclists are without a doubt the most selfish, dangerous and irresponsible drivers on the road. I have seen more idiotic behaviour from motorcyclists than all other varieties af motorists - including taxi and truck drivers - put together.

That's weird, cuz I have never seen a car with a sticker that says "share the road". Don't know anyone who drives a motorcycle drunk. Never seen a person on a motorcycle eating, talking on a cellphone, doing makeup, or drinking their latte while they are driving. Never heard a motorcycle rider playing their music so loud that the whole neighborhood can hear & feel it. Never seen a motorcycle forget to turn on its headlights. Never heard of a motorcyclist falling asleep at the wheel. Never seen an old man on a motorcycle lose control of it, and run over and kill people at the street fair. Never seen a motorcycle taking up two parking spots. Have never seen a motorcycle break down and stop traffic for hours on the freeway. I have never seen an 8 motorcycle pile up. I have never seen a motorcycle going too slow in the fast lane and refusing to get in a slower lane.

But hey if you say so, then I guess you could be right.

My brother and I have been riding since we were like 12, we have never been without bikes since. This was most likely the most well made point I have ever heard, especially regaring that comment.

Sorry again for your loss.
But back to Motorcycles. If it's in your blood, its in your blood.

Donny, sorry for your loss, he was living a dream and it got the best of him. Anyone that decides to buy a bike should take a training course, there is a very good one in Redding, it use to be ran by some friends of my family, he was a retired motorcycle cop and trained people to drive safely. I've been riding bikes, both dirt and street for more than half my life and I've been lucky, never getting hurt on one. I have an old 3 wheeler that people call a death trap, but it runs and looks like new and it demands respect, so thats what it's giving. You can either live life the way that makes you happy, or be unhappy and that's no life!

California requires you to wear a helmet. I thought they also required you to take a motorcycle course before getting a license.

I agree with you, Donny. People need to be trained before they go zooming off on a motorcycle. I love bikes, but they are scary in big cities.

Peace to you and your family.
