In fact Saddam saw them as a THREAT ot his regime. And in fact in 2002 he unsuccesfully tried to capture Al Zalwhatever his name is. Last time I check you don't try to "capture" your friends. In fact he'd been dead for 4 years now is Saddam had caught him.
