in that bet the spread is '2 points' - Dallas is getting 2 points and Jacksonville is giving up 2 points - it means that Dallas starts out the game with a 2-0 lead for betting purposes - if the final score of that game is 20-19 in favor of Jacksonville - the people who bet Dallas win the best - because with the two points they were given by the bookmaker the score for betting purposes is Dallas 21 Jacksonville 20

Spread betting is a form of gambling on the outcome of any event where the more accurate the gamble, the more is won and conversely the less accurate the more is lost. A bet is made against a 'spread' (or index), on whether the outcome will be above or below the spread. The amount won or lost depends on the level of the index at the end of the event. you can always buy points too such as in this they're giving dallas +2 in football 3 is important because field goals are more common. you might lose some payout odds but you could buy dallas to a +3.5 in case they lost by just a field goal

Ah ok i think i've got it now.
It's kinda just like what we would bet here then on a soccer game with a team starting a goal up/down. I thought being American football, it had to be something more complex than that...  Cheers !!
