Saying "NO" to a person responsible for a HUGE amount of your income???

Ok so lets say an affiliate, business partner, etc... was responsible for 20-40% of your monthly income and if they left so would the money... how hard is it for you to say NO to this person compared to saying no to just a nobody.

This is just an example but what if you were at a convention an affiliate that made 30% or so of your income was like hey man go get me a pack of cigs and just walks all over you. How much of it can you take, some people have huge egos and would throw all that money down the drain just too be cool but then some will just sit there and be takin full advatge of.

How would you handle saying NO to an important business relationship????

What my 40% loss, is only a 5% loss for him compared to what he makes? Who is on top?

say no to what???

what does it want, it makes a huge difference, its in your interest to keep a healthy relationship with that affiliate but if he wants to drop a nice load of jizz on your face, yeah, just go ahead and say no

Avoid that affiliate at shows then. If they want to be arrogant about it, avoid them.

That's up to you. I might get the pack of smokes once and if it was on my way for a 2nd maybe. After that I'd say "no". I've known rude people that just don't know how to act and they may not be trying to walk on you so I'd allow a slip.

If they're just being shitty, I'd find other affiliates.

If you get in that kind of situation, that means you're doing something wrong.
When people even try that shit on you, then you probably showed you're less than them by the way you act or talk...

Anyway, if i were in such situation I'd probably make a joke about it, but wont do it or put up with it.

He wont go elsewhere just because of that
If you do biz with people only because you like them or because they'll be your bitch, you're a tool

I am responsible for a large percentage of my wife's income, yet she can say no with ease. ;)

If he is disrespecting you, then no amount of money is worth that. It will cause you to accept that view of yourself. It will be work to replace him, but if you have a good product, then it can be done, right? Is he sending you business out of charity? No, it is mutually beneficial. A good rule is to not do business with people that don't respect you.

Thankfully, I've never been faced with this situation. I'm all about going above and beyond the call of duty - however, that would include anything within my power that I can do/get for him within reason and in regards to 'work'. Getting a pack of cigarettes for them wouldn't be a problem if I was on my way there, passing, going for myself or simply because the person is in deep discussion and asks politely if I'd go for them. It's all about the rapport between the two people. Often times, it's not what you say but how you say it.

Luckily - I've never had this problem with my affiliates. I'm 'blessed' in more ways than one with my affiliates.

How can one single affiliate control 40% of your revenue? That's got a warning sign written all over it man...

indeed. if one affiliate is making you that big a percentage of your money, you need to be worrying about getting more good affiliates

Some advice given to me by a finance giant:
there are two types of people. farmers and hunters. hunters know that each day they can come back empty handed, but they also know that if they do, they catch em tomorrow. farmers have security that there is a nice harvest and a long lasting safty net. But if the harvest fails, they are fucked for the winter, they don't have the skills of the hunter.

be a hunter. you can get another 30% guy. tell him to get his own cigarettes. A true hunter will respect you more, I would.

People only walk over you if you let them.
It would also depend on how you told him "no" too I think. If your straight about thing I think it would usually be ok.
