Back up QBs have to able to play in 5 minutes if they must, so 5 days should be more than enough.

Craig T 09-04-2006 09:57 AM

Yeah, and Pittsburg's backup isn't bad at all, it's just that with Hines Ward not practiciing with a bad hamstring, not sure their is much continuity to start a season. Especially with Miami and Cinncinnatti on the start of the schedule.

Hey Everyone,

go niners!

IWantU_Jeff 09-04-2006 03:22 PM

So many of you are OH SO LOST..

the team is called the Cowboys (even without TO they are a force this year)

ALL THE WAY.. even looking at last years games, were it not for rotten FGs we would have won 3 more games
When Vanderjagt gets healthy hes a great kicker AND Suisham has been really solid as a potential replacement

MetaMan 09-04-2006 03:27 PM

look at for these teams again:
Pats
Broncs
Panthers

Up and commers:
Baltimore
Washington
Giants

Pretenders (yes your team is wannabes and has 0 chance):
benglas
dallas
bears
colts

if your team did make the list you are terrible and are going to lose.

BlueWire 09-04-2006 03:28 PM

How about last year's REAL Super Bowl Champs.....The Seattle Seahawks :thumbsup

Seattle is a bunch of wannabes and were lucky to even make the finals, most NFC teams were inured up.

Matt Hassleback is over rated, and Alexander is not the MVP, they will make playoffs and get shut down again earlier in the playoffs.

they are the Colts of the NFC, them and their fans = wannabes.

your team is not going anywhere you are a PRETENDER.

Craig T 09-04-2006 03:43 PM

Good, finally some thought put into this!!!

Hey Meta Man, good logic, but Jake the Snake, our beloved ASU/Cardinal qb will break your heart every time!! There is talk already of Jay Cutler this year, which can't be good. Add that to Mike Bell another 1st year back, and it looks like a frustrating year.

i am not worried, the Broncs breed running backs, anyone can step up in that system and have a blow out year.

Plummer vastly improved his interceptions from 2 years ago, and i see more room for improvement.

i was at the AFC final last year and it was not all Jake, the O line was having touble protecting against pitts big D.

Jay Cutler is supposed to be a Plummer with a better arm we shall see, Plummer will start unless he TOTALLY screws up then they will give this kid a shot.

they will be there again trust me, KC no, San diego no, oakland hell no,

see them in the playoffs AT LEAST

Craig T 09-04-2006 04:04 PM

Playoffs for Denver could easily happen, but the AFC Playoff is going to be a blood bath.

For you Jeff, this is what I see in the NFL:
Three teams: Carolina, Seattle, and whoever comes out of the NFC meat grinder, probably with a lot of injuries... insert Dallas here, but T.0. and Coach Parcells will be unavailable as one of them will be dead after after their celebrity death match, and the other in jail. I think Glenn will have a great year though.

The Redskins will be there to answer the gun. Despite the fact I live in the DC area, I haven't chnaged my NFL loyalties (I have for all other sports, in that I root for the Caps, Terps, Nats and DC United). Gibbs has been using the preseason to figure out which players he wants to keep on the roster. He also holds everything tight to the vest in preseason. I still remember the 1991 preseason when the Skins went 0-4, and they then went 14-2 in the regular season and won the SuperBowl.

I hope you're right... it'll make being a Giants fan a lot easier.

If it came down to that, the Redskins would win as Snider would spend twice what he can under the salary cap. Every team in the NFL is under the same spending cap, and every team has an amount they must spend on salaries (A cap and a floor). Money isn't the equation, it's being able to judge talent.

Craig T 09-04-2006 06:49 PM

Hey Moraxian,
Agreed. New England has been a good example of not spending money but choosing talent, although it may catch up with them soon.

So if Washington is choosing to not show anything, Minnesota is in for a rude awakening, but I gotta figure if you aren't playing with consistency in game time, even a series or two, it is even harder once the season start.

The other tihing, is NFC East is going to be brutal. Which defense in that division do you want to send out a quaterback to?

BTW, New England is my wife's favorite team, (had to hear about that for a few years with their superbowls), but at least you gotta love a girl who loves NFL and plans our Sundays around it. Wondering if anyone is as lucky?

MetaMan 09-04-2006 06:52 PM

Washington wont go far, they have no QB, but there defensive will hold them in there i think enough to make the playoffs.

i think Big Ben will be out for alot of the season for some reason i just have a feeling.

i seriously think McNair could do some damage with Baltimore, i really loved him in Tenesee and he looks in great shape, if he manages to stay healthy i think Baltimore has a good chance to have the most improved season in the NFL, but then again if he is not healthy they are done for, with Mcnair you just never know.

i also left out NO, i think Brees will bring a new light to that team, the Saints usually have finished around .500 lately and i think with the addition of mainly Brees and also the addition of bush they can squeek in as a wildcard in the NFC.

I spelled Miami Dolphins correctly, that means I do indeed know "something" about football.

Everything else in this thread is just opinion

i will install a balloon in my asshole with a wifi switch that you can have personal access to inflate and deflate it if the dolphins do it this year.

Craig T 09-04-2006 07:24 PM

Yep, and when it comes to NFL football, the week of opening kickoff, everyone still has hope. One team always sneaks out of nowhere to be a contender. I'd like to think Cardinals could do it, but the over/under on weeks our qb Kurt Warner will last is 5.

Double $$$ if you take the over and he makes it to bye week 9.

He has a nice supporting cast around him though, but I am not holding my breath.

As far as knowing anything, vegas knows they make a lot of $$$ on us :)

haha, thanks. But watch the running game improve this year. In a 2End set where you have Hannam (I dont know too much about Fasano) as the blocking end replacing Dan Campbell & then your other End is Witten, who is technically a 3rd Wide out that will get matched up with a backer while teams figure on how to match up with Glenn or TO and the running game VASTLY opens up. The line is much better and changing up between Jones & Barber will be awsome.. everyone is watching for the passing game (which will be GREAT when teams try to attack the run) but Im watching for a big boost in our running game. Jones has something to prove this year as a 3rd yr player too. And our D has 12sacks in 4 preseason games already (which I know isnt too much to judge on..but its a great indicator)

but Im going to LOVE watching the NFC East Div this year.. most interesting division in football now.

(and breath) sorry for the book ;p

Craig T 09-04-2006 08:39 PM

Yeah, I know Dallas has not 1 but 2 good running backs, and a good defense, and T.O. who would actually make a phenomenal decoy, but I can't bring myself to cheer for them. They are good, and my new favorite team is whoever is playing them :) That is about as much respect as I can give them without actually giving up on the season.

Lineside, I think the raiders are due.... for the goth cheerleaders I mentioned. I'm sure they can pull a few out of the stands... just not sure if they'd be female. Lamont Jordan is going to have a big year though.

Sorry lenny2, i'm still trying to get that image out my head, and your not helping. Back to goth cheerleaders!

SHT 09-04-2006 09:01 PM

I think Washington was holding something back, but even then, they would have had to hold back a lot. The NFC East is the toughest division, although I am not very high on the Eagles... they will struggle to win in the division this year (maybe 1-5, with a split with Dallas?) The Giants are probably the best of the bunch, but face a schedule filled with last years playoff teams (the Bucs, Seahawks and Bears are all on the schedule, although I don't see the Bears as that good a team. They're the best of a sorry lot and could get 6 wins in their division alone!) The Redskins have a slightly easier schedule than the Giants so they might push past the Giants. Dallas... how many times can you go to the well with Drew Bledsoe? (Same question for Gibbs and Mark Brunnell!).

Here's how I would rate the teams:

QB: Giants, Eagles, Redskins, Cowboys
RBs: Redskins, Giants, Cowboys, Eagles
WRs: Cowboys*, Giants, Redskins, Eagles
O-line: Cowboys, Giants, Redskins, Eagles
D-line: Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles
LBs: Redskins, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys
Secondary: Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles, Giants
Kickers/Punters: Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles
Returners: Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles

The Eagles are at the bottom of too many in this group to win the division, but they could end up like the 1983 San Diego Chargers who went 7-9, 0-8 in their division, 7-1 against everyone else.
