I learned in frontpage and used it for a long time. It sucks ass but I was very quick with it.

I moved over to DW and LOVE it.

I use Dreamweaver 8 when I'm crunched for time. Then I go back (when I have time) to clean up the code in notepad.

Dreamweaver 8 is also one of the fastest ways to edit CSS. Built-in everything. Plus I love how it fills in the blanks and you just have to press enter while you're typing out the code. It saves you loads and loads of time.

I used to do everything with notepad, but Dreamweaver 8 is actually pretty darn good. I can't wait for the update.

Homesite, integrated with TopStyle and CSE HTML Validator... the best combo I have found to date.

it's been perfected :upsidedow
hometise was part of allure merger with macromedia, dreamweaver is MM's best seller, i'm glad they didn't get rid of HS at all. but most of it's stuff incorporated into DW. I like HS over DW for its simple interface and few very used-up shortcuts, everything else is manual
now it all in hands of Adobe. macromedia was a good competition for adobe while its lasted.

That's hardcore.

vi is badass and I love it, but I'd never use it for html.

Boobs 09-03-2006 01:15 PM

C:\windows\notepad.exe

MrChips 09-03-2006 03:54 PM

Dudes - if you actually want a plain text editor - then notepad.exe is your thing.

Notepad is a pure text editor and allows the skilled programmer to enter what they like.

Anything else is just a - herm well - beginners thing.

Like dreamweaver/Net objects fusion/Frontpage/ shit like that aint for real programmers - they are for school dropouts who need a program to program for them.

If you want to do HTML - then you do it by hand. To do that - you need notepad.exe. Under UNIX you need vi. (Peeps who know computing also know what vi is).

:)
