Time for a new laptop... what should I get

A buddy of mine works at the Apple store and has been trying to talk me into getting an Apple. I was thinking about it until their recent battery issues. I would probably run Windows on it if I did decide to get a Mac.

I've been using my Toshiba Satellite for over two years now and it has been awesome, so I have been considering getting another Toshiba.

Anything other than a Dell. God, I hate my dell with every fucking cell of my body. This is my first and my last Dell.

When I buy something to replace it, I swear I am going to smash this one. With a dell, you can expect an hour and a half battery life, broken hinges, assorted problems with upgrades (just TRY adding some more memory, they solder the cards in so you have to send it to them to be upgraded with THIER SHIT).

I was at CompUSA last night, they have a couple of very nice Toshiba units and I very much am considering getting this one.

I would go Dell, I never have a problem. I have 3 Dell laptops and 1 desktop and I drop and beat the hell out of them and they always boot up.

Like a Ford, Built Tough...

Yeah, not really a Dell fan so I think I will stay away from them.

BestBuy has had some really good deals on Toshiba's lately. May have to go in there tomorrow and check it out.

I think you're being paranoid. The chance of your battery exploding is really really really slim, even if you do buy a dell.

Buy an Apple tho.

IBM. You cannot go wrong with an IBM machine - they are rock solid.

there are cheap versions, like the macbook. But the pro is fast as hell, true desktop replacement, actually much faster than my twin athon desktop.

Yup, got that with mine aswell
But then again, the thing is already 4 years old and i've been using the shit out of it since the first day I bought it, I use it as my main computer (with external screen etc when at home).
It's an inspiron 4150, pentium 4 Mobile 1.9ghz, still doing a good job

I'm also looking to replace it, and it will be a Dell again (their prices are pretty good and the ability to configure it to your needs is a big plus)
Just got a bit confused with the CPU shit, dual core 1.6ghz and all that, i'm like what the fuck, my 4 year old 1.9ghz laptop is faster than that shit
but I guess that's some improved stuff that makes mine look like a turtle
