I had aol for over a year and I just switched to Roadrunner. It is so fast it's unbelievable! But I DO have to keep my account because of the mail. Otherwise I have to contact ALL of my sponsors and have them change it, and some sponsors don't even respond, plus I have too many.
Anyways, I do have a small problem with Roadrunner. After I reboot my pc, I sometimes have a REALLY hard time connecting, I always get "This page cannot be displayed" or some DNS error page (I use Explorer), I guess their conection doesn't work, and I have to reboot my pc many times before I can connect. Does anyone know how to solve this, pretty please? |
O'h yeah, and the reason why I used AOL for so long is because I got it for 1 year free when I got my PC. That's how they lure new customers in. Whenever you buy a PC at Gateway or BestBuy or whenever, you usually get a 1 year free subscription to AOL.
After that 1 yr I got hooked :Graucho :1orglaugh |
I love it too. That's where most of my signups come from.

We have DSL here, but I kept AOL for $14.95/mo anyway.
For personal use it's the greatest and best ISP in the whole wide world! I can't imagine not having it. Sure, I could get most of that stuff off websites. But it's quicker to have it all right there on one program. For instance when I'm not using AOL it goes something like this..... Find a website with chatrooms, go to someone's profile website somewhere, open AIM if I want to talk privately (and hope they have AIM too), and open Outlook to exchange pics or whatever. This is all a SERIOUS pain in the ass when I could just have all that right there on AOL. |
stop advertising for aol.. its lame..
|
phogirl69... do you have a static IP with roadrunner? Sounds like a combo Tcp/ip and or a static IP set on your system causing the hard to connect thing.

Not to mention anyone with cable lines KNOW the shit goes down quite often,... at least here in cali it does, I keep AOL so I can maintain activity online no matter what regardless of speed.
heres a thread Colin just posted regarding his new Pleasure Labs, but in it he even says... """"and waiting for my cable modem to come back up so doing this on AO-Hell. """" Even Colin uses Ao-Hell hahahah its all about multi activity man. In recording studios we have multiple "Mix Monitors" some are even shitty Realistic 3 Inch speakers, so we can hear the mix through that as well,... others are mackey Active Monitors that run 1k a piece, or did a few years back... anyway, point it,... I have to be online 24 hours a day, and when Adelphia plans to eat dick and my connections is down for lets say an hour, since they do most updates at night when I am up all night working, so running into the downtime is NOT an option for me, or any other webmasters,.... Aol is okay. http://gofuckyourself.com/showthread...threadid=65164 :winkwink: |
To tell you the truth, I have no idea if my ip is static or not, :1orglaugh I'll have to call them and ask. This may be a stupid question but what's the "tc" in tc/ip stand for? If it's because of the ip, I hope they can fix it without coming to my house again.
