Been running it for about 5 weeks, You should waith the release before getting it, some bugs close all pages sometime, that suck when you need to reopen everything.

Hackers work to exploit latest Firefox flaw

Security researchers claim to have found ways to exploit a serious bug in Firefox and Mozilla Web browsers, a sign that attacks could be on the way.

The vulnerability, which could let attackers secretly run malicious software on PCs, was disclosed on Thursday by security researcher Tom Ferris. The Mozilla Foundation, which distributes and coordinates the development of the Firefox and Mozilla browsers, responded swiftly and released a temporary fix on Friday.......................

Security has been a main selling point for Firefox over Internet Explorer. However, Firefox has had its own security woes. Numerous serious holes in the browser have been plugged since its release, and experts have said that safe Web browsers don't exist.

I love it how the security researchers and anti-virus companies go public with the holes they find instead of telling MS and Firefox under the table.

They release the threats to the public and then the companies are in a race with hackers to fix it before too many of them exploit it.

The security companies love this sort of thing. The more damage hackers do, the better their business.

"As soon as we got the report that users might be impacted, we began evaluating our options," said Mike Schroepfer, director of engineering at the Mozilla Foundation. Firefox version 1.0.7 and Mozilla version 1.7.12, which fix the IDN flaw, are now being tested, he said. "We're releasing as soon as we possibly can."

The testing process is to make sure the updates don't introduce any compatibility problems, he said.

Now how often do you hear of microsoft responding immediately to security flaws.

IE7 RC1 is out and works pretty well! IE7 will be installed for XP users via autoupdate in a few weeks, so it will be widespread, like it or not. Make sure your sites are ready. Specifically, check all your scripts. Your javascript may or may not work. Check now and avoid the bugs.

The problems with some websites and FireFox are gone and it has tabbed browsing & IDN support. I've been using RC1 since it came out. No problems.

I am not pro or anti IE7, but surfers will be using it soon. Get ready.

It's not about what you want. It's about what your customers want. They will accept the IE7 update next month in droves. Make sure you are ready for it.
