The million dollar domain

so today I come across www.sex.tv

sex.tv can be registered immediately for $1,000,000.00/year*.

Just curious who in their right mind would pay 1 million dollars for a year of owning a domain....call me crazy but I dont think even a millionare would pay that much

Someone already paid huge money for Sex.tv, and it didn't get shit for traffic so they let it expire. There was a lawsuit involved too. Let me try to find the article...

Chief among the breached promises, according to O?Rourke, was that Sex.tv garnered 25 percent of all traffic entering domains within The .tv Corporation?s realm, or 625,000 hits per month. ?That kind of traffic would have represented about $1 million a year in revenues for us,? O?Rourke said, but in actuality, ?we have achieved no more than two or three hundred hits per day.?

Who the fuck would register sex.tv for $1 million / year unless it brought at least $1 million / year in type-in traffic. All other traffic can be done with a $15 domain. Even if the site got 625,000 per month, 625,000 hits/month is shit. I've gotten 600,000 hits/month - and it aint any near $1 million / year.

When they registered broadband was not as easily accessible. But I think now if they did streaming movies or on demand porn I think they would make big money with the right marketing campaign and the right webmaster program. I would pay to see new release of porn and adult movies on demand. What would really have been cool if they bought up all the old school porn libraries and put them up for on demand. I love checking out deepthroat for laughs with friends.

Now watch someone buy the damn thing and do that. I should get 10% if you do.

Exactly. I wouldn't even pay $100 for that domain.
