My carpet is turning into a wooden floor as soon as I can afford it and get somebody to put it down for me.

There's actually a beautiful knotty wide pine floor with flat head nails under my carpet. But if the kitchen is any example, unless I put a 100 or so coats of poly on it, the pee just sinks into the wood :(

I am not posh enough to have a real wood floor. Just a fake one. We have one in our hallway and it can just me mopped if they have an accident. Unlike the carpet where my carpet cleaner is getting a lot of work.

I wonder if it's in bad taste to cover a hardwood floor with laminate? :upsidedow

Klen 08-28-2006 01:50 PM

Funny dogy,funny woman :)

tASSy 08-28-2006 01:53 PM

it's odd, lee.loo has never had an accident in the house, except once when i was being busy and not paying attention to her cues as i was anxious to put together this new piece of furniture from IKEA (IKEA = tASSy crack) so she squatted right in front of me on my bathroom floor (thank goodness) and peed. i couldn't get mad at her, she was being annoying and walking all over my project for a good 1/2 hour before that. i should have known. bad dog mommy! hehehe :upsidedow

(and since this is a pug freak thread anyhow, here's a pic of miss 'loo chasing her gal pal amiga around our rooftop):

Ferd's hindend has gone out on him so he poops and doesn't even know it.

The dogs were fine until Riley came on board. He pees just for fun, I'm pretty sure, and the other think they need to remark everything after he finishes.

They are DAMN lucky they're so darned cute!!!

Sarah_Jayne 08-28-2006 02:04 PM

My pups are getting much better but I got them as puppies so they needed to be housebroken. The vast majority of the time they go outside but when it is raining Maggie tends to use that an excuse to water the carpet. It is happening less as she gets older but it still happens.

Sarah_Jayne 08-28-2006 02:10 PM

While we are doing puggy pictures. I took these this weekend:

Ms. Parker the Pug:

and because I can't leave her out - Ms. Maggie the Spaniel:

Peaches 08-28-2006 02:59 PM

Sarah, they are so cute! I can't believe how fast they're growing :(

Sarah_Jayne 08-28-2006 03:19 PM

I know! Maggie in particular has really become big all of a sudden. When we got her she fit in the palm of our hand and now she is clearly taller than Parker. Miss attitude at time though :)

LOL, was looking at my threads and found this one.

Let me tell you, this little dog should have been named "Destroyer"! He's ripped the skirt completely off one of reasonably expensive chairs, chewed on all the railings of my dining table chairs, pees EVERYWHERE, likes to move shoes around when he's not chewing on them, brings in sticks and leaves from outside to distribute around the house, chewed up my coffee table, cordless phone, cell phone and has attempted many times to do the same with all the remotes.

He's taken all the magnets and pictures he can reach off the fridge, SOMEHOW he reached a roll of papertowels and completely "redid" the downstairs with it.........

Oh lawd, I could go on. I love the little sucker though and wouldn't trade him for the world :) He came out his neuter with flying colors even though one of his balls was WAY into his belly so they had to make another incision.

Just wanted to update for the pug lovers ;)

sorry to laugh so hard but i can just picture lil' destroyer running around wreaking havoc upon your home. it's so great and so terrible to be such a dog lover that you'll put up with anything from these lil' buggers, isn't it?

i've been lucky with lee.loo, she doesn't go for paper products like i see most pugs do unless she's REALLY bored (like while i had the flu for 9 days she pulled some tp off the roll) but i've been working on embarassing the crap outta her by dressing her up now that it's winter! :winkwink: :1orglaugh

here she's playing Woodstock, from the Peanut's cartoon:

Peaches 12-19-2006 03:14 PM

Little shits can tell time too. They're downstairs barking like crazy because it's after 5 and they haven't been fed!

TheDatingNetworkCameron 12-19-2006 03:18 PM

Those are the greatest pictures. I've got a pair of 4 month old pugs myself. They destroy everything in site as well. But you cant help but just cuddle with them.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 12-19-2006 03:46 PM

pugs always loo so happy

Sarah_Jayne 12-19-2006 04:14 PM

chewing...Parker doesn't chew much but Maggie is driving me nuts at the moment with chewing. She has started to chew door frames..(and a lot of other things). I can't get her to stop and it is driving me mental.

candyflip 12-19-2006 04:26 PM

I'm on the way to the airport and on my way I have to drop my "kids" off at the Doggy Resort. I'd take them to Disney with me if their tickets weren't more than my own. :1orglaugh

I hate cell phone pics, but sometimes they're pretty damn handy.

Congrats on your ltest addition to your pack of Pugs!:thumbsup

Peaches 12-19-2006 06:19 PM

Tassy, I'm a bit worried about this constume issue....we may need an intervention. My cabin, soon, bring Leeloo!! :)

I have a book called "Bad Dog" and it's basically a bunch of dogs dressed up and the owners have made comments. A higher percentage than should be normal are pugs. Ditto the "Why dogs bite their owners" email that has all the dressed up dogs - again, too large a percentage has dressed up pugs.

FREE THE PUGS!!

Profits of Doom 12-19-2006 09:57 PM

Do your pugs have eye infection problems? I have a 4 year old male pug and I have to use 2 different eye drops on him twice a day or he get's the most repulsive eye boogers I've ever seen. According to my vet it's a dry eyed syndrome that's common in pugs and I'll have to do it the rest of his life. I love the little fucker but damn the eye meds add up...

Yes, it is a problem with pugs :( Mine are OK (so far) but it's a known problem with them. If you're in the US, there are some places that sell petmeds at a discount rates.

Peaches 12-20-2006 07:59 AM

LOL, Tassy :)

It took 2 WEEKS for Riley to get used to a collar. I don't think they're falling for the "Let's dress you up!" idea :)

Sarah_Jayne 12-20-2006 08:35 AM

Parker's eyes are fine..she blinks most things away. The only gross things she gets is really seriously dirty ears I have to clean out once a week. The vet says it isn't mites she just gets all the gunk because her ears don't hang down like the spaniel.

This is going to sound crazy, but it works - hopefully you can find it there:

Get the dropper bottle (plastic with liquid in it) of the stuff for jock itch. Put a few drops in his ears a couple of times a day and see it that works. When I got Ferd, he had a yeast infection in his ears. The lady from rescue recommened this, it worked like a charm and no more ear problems in the almost 10 years I've had him :)

Who do you use? I use 1-800-PET-MEDS but they are the same price as my vet, but with free shipping so I don't have to make monthly treks there.

Any idea what it is called? I have never had jock itch.

Mine aren't any meds right now and the ones they've been on have been short term, but a company like you've mentioned is what I was referring to.

Not sure what it's called, Sarah - especially in London :thumbsup Should be around the store where antiseptics and stuff are sold - might even be near the feminine "itching" products - which would do the same thing, but I've not seen it sold in a dropper bottle (or even liquid) that could be used for Parker's ears.

I have to pick up a prescrip today - I'll look and see what some name brands here are and where it's located and let you know tomorrow :)
