    Internext, Adult Trade shows: The BIG question....

    I've been wondering this for a while now..... We've all seen a lot of shit on all the webmaster boards across the net. This webmaster pissed off that one, this fucker spammed that one, that asshole never paid this one, yadda yadda blabbety blah blah....

    Yet I've never once heard of any actual fights flaring up at any of the adult industry gatherings. Why? How can this be possible? How many times have I seen guys pissing at each other and then saying "you know where to find me in Vegas dude" or whatever. Any good fight stories you're holding back? If not, why do you think this is that there's no follow-thru in the beaking-off department?

      none that i know the details of - but last summer in Vegas, i remember this fight breaking out between two guys on the convention floor - this one guy was yelling at the top of his lungs, 'you stole our fucking content bitch' (or something similar to that), and just ran at this guy about 30 feet from where my brother and i were standing. cracked him in the head and got him on the ground - but then a bunch of people jumped in and pulled him off. wierd. anyone else see that?

          I have been in a fight in Vegas last january. Not because of any
          business I was totally pissed while a bunch of faggets tried to
          take off with a limo.... while I was waiting longer....with 3 friends
          right in front of the Venetian

                      Actually it was 3 against 7...it was just me who got into a fight
                      with 1 of the others and that guy was taller than me...I guess
                      I just was more drunk than him.

                      It's no excuse it happened I don't even know who the guy was
                      they were acting like arrogant assholes so no I don't feel guilty
                      at all.....my 3 friends just stood there and laughed....

                                              if ever a fight would happen, it would have happened with me, ive told at least 8-10 webmasters in my 7 years in this biz to meet me at my booth if they wanna get physical and not one single one has taken me up on it, and if they did show up, they just 'talked to me' and asked why i was such a mean man... haha

                                                      fuck a fight. The real question is how much money does ones make after attending one of these events. I have been to many music industry conventions so I pretty much know the drill as far as making your rounds and meeting everyone and blahzay blahzay. I sit in front of this one eyed demon about 10 hours a day after comming home form a normal job and I make more than my normal job! With that being said fuck the bullshit...lets compare bankaccounts and compare dicks later......

                                                              while I generally agree with you there must come into play the type of industry we deal with. I would approxmate 80-90 percent of people and sponsors we deal with we will never meet in person therefore it is what it is...I seriously doubt half the people who talk shit would even show up at a convention let alone make enough money to afford time away from the comp. One good thing I can say about this industry is it's lack of forgiveness for cheaters and spammers. This type of self governing backed up with complete FACTS is what helps us all in the longrun know who and what we are dealing with and make more money.

                                                                  Yes. There are two sides to this. On one hand you've got those who hide behind their punk monitors all the time, beaking off at will to anyone and everyone. Some of them will "invite" someone to come find them, when actually it is they who should really be doing the "finding" and deliver the goods.

                                                                  Then you have those that will say what they need to say on the boards, make their point and then drop it and move on with other business. Professionals mostly.

                                                                  I'm just sort of surprised there hasn't been any "famous stories" from past conventions where webmistresses/webmasters/actors/models have mixed it up some.

They probabally don't even make enough money to attend any of the shows, and if they did, they don't say who they are on the boards to avoid getting their asses kicked. The shows are about Friends, and Love, and networking, not assholes fighting......

                                                                                                  I've worked in music, done the la/ny party thing, conferences CMJ, MIDEM, etc. - it's the same bullshit whether it's movies, music, or porn. It's all about making alliances, having the right friends, etc. Even if you don't make more money the day after you get back from a conference, you might make more money 2 years later because of the people you met. If you're in entertainment already, you know the game.

                                                                                                          I've had lots of guys threaten to "find me" at one of the shows. Once someone points me out to these pencil neck geeks, they usually slink away.

                                                                                                          Over the years, I've pissed with lots of guys, lensman, Brad Shaw, etc.
                                                                                                          what really happends is this, you meet face to face and realize the guy you are pissing with either *IS* or is not an asshole. (obviously, the gutless ones never get to the meeting part)

                                                                                                          Also, public fighting is really for the immature punks of this business. I seldom get to the places these clowns go (unless, very late at night, they slip into the adult.com suite)

                                                                                                              I've worked for a large player in the industry for many years until recently, and we would make sure we had at least 1 person present at all of the shows... Its not about making money on the spot, its about networking with the people that you typically do business with through email, msn and icq. Quite frankly tho, I personally am more apt to responding to an email from someone that I have shaken hands with than someone that I have no clue about.

                                                                                                              And yeah, 2 years down the road, thats what matters..this business is starting to mature now and looks whos still here and whos not.

I too have had my moments where I felt the need to call out someone here and point blank tell them what I thought of them at the time. I'm like that whether someone is on a message board or sitting in the same room with me.

                                                                                                                          But again, I was referring to the fact that although there is a lot of "chest-puffing" and smart-ass antagonism going on here on any given day, there seems to be a lack of stories about actual physical confrontations at the trade shows. I see now that there actuall have been a few, like the ones Quiet and Dynaspain mentioned.

                                                                                                                          But there are a lot of existing ill feelings between webmasters for many reasons beyond just the typical pissing matches. What about any hotheaded Euro or Russian webmasters that have made the trip over to one of the big shows? Some of them are banned from certain programs, some were in certain programs and weren't paid, etc etc. What about a webmaster from a country in the middle east, maybe someone from here said something they didn't like?

                                                                                                                          Those kinds of political motivations can be pretty powerful, as we learned last september. I'm not disappointed that there hasen't been more mention about fights over the years, I'm just surprised about it.

The crowd I hang with are the real players in the biz, (maybe thats why you don't see us ??). I host parties, bring models, have private photo shoots for our friends, give out gifts, Gamble to much hehe, buy Lots of drinks, dinners etc... We even run contests on our hosting, and the winners get plane tickets and hotel suites paid for by us. A few other free hosts like Stynk and Porn City etc... do the same. So maybe you have had a bad experience with some free host that you cheated or something, or they cheated you, or you cheat with your hosting ?,....But don't be saying negative comments about ALL Free Hosts !!! Your comment is bull shit and has no merit whatsoever, and an apology is in order by you.

                                                                                                                                                                  In June last year at the Venetian I had a friend wave me over to one of the restaraunts on the path from the floor to the elevators... So I joined him and these two other guys I didn't know. Everything's fine and I'm enjoying my friend's company... starting to think these guys are full of shit. Then it hits me, the guy sitting to my left stiffed me on 3 months of content leasing payments ($750). Didn't go out of business, just stiffed me.

                                                                                                                                                                  So I say "You guys don't pay your fucking bills, you stiffed me."

                                                                                                                                                                  Guy pawns it off like it must have been some misunderstanding (and even blames his wife). It's not in my character but I should have hit him up for the cash then - nobody's got less then a few large at those shows in the casino. Just like in Goodfells, "Fuck you pay me".

                                                                                                                                                                  I'm too nice though so I get home and follow-up... no response.. Then I finally send a nasty email saying that I'm going to drag their names and company through the mud on every adult webmaster site - and a check shows up.

                                                                                                                                                                  That's my little story of a convention confrontation. Just a pleasant conversation but tense nonetheless.

A dipshit says something totally uncalled for about a reputable company, and there can really be some problems happening.

                                                                                                                                                                      It makes it doubly worse that it was said here, because of the sheer numbers of webmasters and insdustry people here that will read such bullshit. Although the smarter ones will identify it as bullshit, the words still tend to aggravate those that it's been directed at.

                                                                                                                                                                      And the large webmaster conventions and trade shows are the most likely place for confrontations to take place at. Where else do so many of us get to actually be around one another?


                                                                                                                                                                      For the record, I'm sure there are hundreds of people who will attest that what Lightning is saying is absolutely true. Sometimes people like this Zubr run their mouths without thinking. Hopefully for Zubr it's not all the time.
