This band's been on my To See list for about twenty years and I finally made it to see them at the Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta last night. It was looking to be a perfect night of music at 77 degrees and then about 5pm the rain came...and kept coming...and never stopped. Since I had lawn seats, general admission, it really didn't matter. I got soaked and stayed that way. The band was under cover and the music was sounding good. I was hoping to hear some of the classic guitar licks I've enjoyed since I was a kid but man was I surprised or should I say blown away by Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes.
The Playlist "Dont Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear Midnight Rider Trouble No More The Sky Is Crying Wasted Words Dreams Woman Across The River Old Before My Time Hot 'Lanta (Vaylor Trucks on guitar - 3 guitarists on stage) Feel So Bad (with Susan) Statesboro Blues The Weight You Dont Love Me>Mountain Jam>Drums>Oteil Bass Solo>Kofi on Flute>Mountain Jam Encore: Southbound (with Barry Richman ) Here's the kind of reviews any band would give a nut for.... You Don't Love Me>Mountain Jam was probably the best 45 minutes of any ABB show I've ever seen. The band was at their absolute best from start to finish of this epic jam! This was BY FAR the best Mountain Jam I've ever seen. Worthy of comparison to the Eat A Peach version, it was flawless.... the second half of Mountain Jam was where the magic really happened. The band was patient, not forcing anything, and Derek really made Duane proud on this one. He took his time and let it happen, and brothers and sisters, what a majestic, soaring solo! Wait till everybody hears this, you are going to flip out! RobJohnson Wasted Words : Funk intro , then after the singing was all done ....LOOK out Derek & Warren caught fire & took this song to a new peak. I have never heard it jammed this hard, man it was a smoker. -Warren & Derek trading shots like two big heavyweights in a title fight. They took this to the 12th round & really locked horns after that & we had to go to the score cards. jblizza -What a great show! One of the best ABB shows I've ever seen. Mountain Jam was like a religious experience. MissTerry If any of you around the world are not familiar with Southern Rock and want to hear some of the most insane guitar work you've ever heard then this is the band you need to see and the show you need to hear. I will try to find a recording of last night's Mountain Jam to give you a taste of the best the Peach state has to offer. _

I saw the Allman brothers at the Fox theater in Atlanta a couple years ago. I live a few blocks away. It was an awesome show. They play Atlanta quite a bit. I'm sure you'll be able to see them again.

I saw them about ten years ago with Warren and Dickie. I'd like to see them with Derek, that kid has been tearing up the fretboard since he could walk.
