programmers: do you use "use Strict" in your perl codes?

I was talking to my system admin and he said perl programmers are divided by those who use "Strict" and others that he doesn't even want to mention.

do you use "use strict" ?

I probably should but I don't, but then most of what I use Perl for is on my local network.

Same here... I write perl scripts on a daily basis but just for my own stuff... Strict just fucks me up and slows me down.

I felt the same way until I realized how many hours of bug finding it would save me. Now I always use it unless it's for a 10-liner or something.

use IO::Select;
use strict;

my ($res,$sel,$packet,$name,$addr,@out,$timeout,@read y,$sock,$count,@queries);
my (@ip,$mask,$binary,$startmask,@start,$endmask,@end ,$done,$end);

I love perl and part of the reason I love perl is if I wanna do something fast and dirty I hack up a script in like 10minutes, use strict just gives you a heap of errors that don't matter!

anal retentive people use Strict;

be serious!

Bugs?! I haven't had a bug since 1987, I just write once and it always works!

PERL is dead

It's an antiquated bubble gum solution that takes up to much server resources.
