Instead of switching it in for a week, consider running a test segment or segments.

Comparing at different times is not comparing apples to apples.

Everything from end of the month, to season, to varying amounts of traffic per source can affect conversions and not be related to the performance of the tour you are trying.

In order to allow for that if you are just going to be switching them out and comparing them you need to allow a big sample size so that fluctuations normalize.

By running test segments concurrently you are able to get better information from a smaller sample size.

It's the same idea that I described here
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...8#post10654318

just applied to a paysite with conversions being how you track performance.

I hate it when sponsors change tours without sending me an email... I normally promote based on the tour....

This is correct, and the only true way to do it.

This is what my multivariate testing software is for. I have developed an edition geared towards optimizing tours and join pages for sponsors.

If you (or anyone else) is interested, ICQ me. Licensing is very reasonable.

A similar product you can take a look at is www.offermatica.com. Mine has some additional features, but licensing for Offermatica is $125,000/year.

My product is priced a bit more reasonably.

If the sponsor is doing it right, they will use their own traffic for testing, and only apply changes that prove to increase overall conversions to the affiliate's tour once those changes have been proven and tested.

By doing it that way with one of our clients we were actually able to raise the subscription price of their site by $3/month and at the same time increase conversions.

We actually go further and then optimize & customize tours/pages for the most signifigant traffic sources (such as good affiliates) individually.

Contact me [email protected] (THROB) ICQ 306014014 I am interested in seeing it. We perform conversion optimization on a performance basis (charging a % of increased sales) and using a blend of some open source software, some out of the box products, and custom code.

For high end complex behavioral targetting & re-engagement testing we currently use our technology partnership with a mainstream company that focuses their time on their Fortune 500 clients.

StudioCritic - We should definitely talk, as we are making some decisions about our development path for next generation tools that will go 'beyond multivariate testing'. We might find some great synergy.

To keep this from seeming a spammy thread-jack I will make this offer:

Paul - If you would like, I will set you up to easily be able to compare the versions of your tour simultaneously for free.

You can test just on your own traffic, and then based on the results, make the best version the 'main tour'. That way affiliates traffic only benefits and is not placed at risk.

You will have full reporting & control, and get some kick ass webstats as a bonus side effect.

If you are interested or have questions email me [email protected]

did you make sure to plug all those traffic leaks on the new tour? Or are you still ripping your affiliates off?

The only changes we made was the new content we updated with, we did upadate with 3 videos and 3 image sets.

We now update with 4 videos and 2 image sets.

First signs are very good.

Yes I appreciate it can very at different times. I'm looking at it on the conversion ratios and so far it looks to have worked. Last weekend we converted 1-693 so far this weekend we convert on 1-528. This is on affiliate traffic. Will be interesting to see if we turn out a 100% video site if the figures would change.

No secret the members want videos, not rocket science that the more you give them the more likely they are to sign up.
