How does that turn out in html though?
does it build a table around where you layer things, or does it do some javascript to tell the browser where to position the things onthe layers?

I'm just wondering if layers appear differently in different browsers because of the code

does some javascript to lay stuff on top of each other. kinda like how imagemaps work, but a lot more unstable code wise & browser wise

bottom line : dont use 'em

edit : i take that back it's not javascript....but just as wonky

well, it's not the code that's scary it's just the results. usually if you're trying to use layers on a web page you're going for an effect that can be attained with CSS a lot easier (i.e. making a static background)
