How many of you ever bought...

a record player? I know vinyl is a thing of the past for most.

I was just looking at some old djing equipment (SL1200s) and thinking most young people these days probably have never held a vinyl record.

I had two, actually. The last one was oldschool. I had to use fishing line to rewrap the tuner because the twine got old and brittle.

Like an asshole, I hooked it up to my (then) computer. That's when I learned how nasty feedback was with old equipment. Popped the sound card on that beast with a shower of sparks, and it never made another noise.

I bought a stereo set up about 15 years ago give or take a year, it came with a 5 disc cd changer and they threw in a turn table for free.

have bought , and still have , the newer ones have built in ports compatible for computer though you may have to purchase an amplifier to boost the sound quality of the original recording on vinyl... i'm guessing
one of my summer projects going on as we speak , i'm transfering all my 12" club singles from 1975 to 1991 (when i stopped buying vinyl and started cd)
i normally would not waste my time but i doubt seriously if the record industry is going to record the extended version of "shadow dancing" - andy gibb on cd just for me anytime soon.

That's awesome. I have about 600, 12" mixes that you could probably never find now. I still love listening to them on the tables, it's just a different deeper sound...

you'd be surprised... turntables outsell guitars... yes you need to buy 2 but just shows how popular they are...

No. Young people had vinil fairy-tales and music when were small.

the older ones have a deeper sound (you should notice a volume difference between the 80's and 90's , everything after that seems to need more "pump up the volume") and surprisingly have lasted this long , i just would like to hear it without having to "flip" records constantly and/or remain glued to my turntable at home.

I have several jukeboxes and a couple of record players left from back in the day. I still say some of the old 33's sound better than CD's =\
