I didnt put DIVX, but what are your thoughts on DIVX?

I used to create everything in .mov only, however since almost everything ships with the plug-ins for .wmv and .mpg, and that is what is used on most MGPs, I now offer all three.

divx would be great but most surfers are retards and you will ahve to walk them thru the process of getting codecs

DivX is best for those on a shoestring budget on a site when it comes to size-to-quality ratio. Even though the mass majority of people will have it on their computers you will have the one or two fucks who are clueless about it, but if you are on a tight budget it may be necessary to sacrifice that 3-5% of people. WMV for safety reasons I guess. MPG/MOV, I would say no for a couple of reasons (MPG because of size-to-quality ratio sucks hardcore, MOV because I would think more people wouldn?t have a player capable of playing MOV?s than DivX). I would go with WMV + MOV I guess for great compatibility.

.wmv only, and .flv for your tours. .wmv works on just about everything. As a bonus maybe 3gp for cell phones, but imo thats a ways off.

There is Flash, and there is flash video .flv The quality on .flv is the same or better then a .wmv with a smaller file size. Google video? Veoh? youtube? all .flv vid. The thing with .flv is the member could only watch the video embedded and online. So you could offer that option, plus allow a download of the .wmv version. Yes there are .flv players out there that a user could have to watch the vid offline, but they are still rather buggy.

Think I use sorenson codec in premier 2.0 with good results, and dual pass. Icq me if you want to see a tour I did .flv trailers on.

i tried it with Swish and the quality wasnt coming out the same as the wmv. what format are you using as your source?

I voted for only WMV... since that's exactly what's inside my member's area. However, I do offer two version of them. One is a pretty kick-ass broadband version that's quality is pretty impressive considering the rather small file size. I also offer the same video but chopped into 4 parts and encoded in a size that's easier for dial-up users to consume.

I use wmv and mpeg4 for ipods. I would love to use Divx but it would confuse too many lol.
