Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A day after reporting a significant deterioration in the condition of Ariel Sharon, doctors publicly diagnosed the comatose former leader with pneumonia.
In an official statement, Tel Aviv's Tel Hashomer Hospital said Sharon is being treated "with massive antibiotics," and that "there is no change in the functioning of the brain tissue and no significant fall in vital signs."
But unnamed hospital officials told Fox News this was all part of the natural process of the body breaking down, and that patients in this condition usually dies from lung infections.
Doctors treating the 78-year-old Sharon told Ynet his "days are numbered," pointed out that a "combination of pneumonia and kidney problems for a man in a coma and on respirators can be fatal."
