Almost 1/3 of Americans Don't Know 9/11 Year

A phone surrvey of 1,002 people in the United States has found that 30 per cent didn't know what year the terrorist attacks occurred on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The poll was published in the Washington Post.

The attacks, which occurred in 2001, killed 3,000 people when terrorists rammed planes into the aforementioned buildings. Of those who couldn't remember the year the attacks occurred, 48% were aged between 55 and 64.

Of the 30% who got the answer of the year wrong, 16% said they had no idea, 6% gave a year previous to 2001 and 8% gave a later year.

oh get real.. these polls are about as stupid as their results.. Typically they are never close to the truth.. They just go for the sensationalism for the headlines.

It's just like the other day with the "terrorist" deal in the UK.. Fox news had some animation and their catch phrase was "Terror in the Sky" I mean I really wonder how long they had been waiting to use that animation, because you know the sick fuckers had it made up already waiting for a plane to get blown up.

37% of Europeans (Copper Study) cannot locate Mexico on a map. Two out of three can't name all the North American countries.

Oh, and (this from the Feiffer and Roque Study, Second Edition) -- 65,000,000 Americans voice "strong support" for George Bush. Just under 80,000,000 Europeans voice "strong support" for George Bush. Bush is more popular in Europe than he is in the USA.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. John Adams

1002 people is not a good cross section, especially if 158 people were 55-64.

Good point. No real statistician would make an assessment on anything based on such a shallow data pool.

Nope. Just as you can't tell how a program will convert from sending 500 hits to a sponsor, you can't tell anything statistically relevant from that small a study (at least a serious, long-term study certainly wouldn't).

Most Americans don't know Canada is their biggest oil supplier - 4% got it right.

30 percent of Americans cannot say in what year the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks ocurred.

62 percent of Americans claimed that a paper check with your name on it can only be cashed if you sign or endorse it. Untrue.

49% of Americans didn't know that white bread is made from wheat. (DUH??)

60% of Americans don't know that excess abdominal fat is associated with heart disease.

66% of Americans don't know the words to the national anthem.

7% of Americans don't know the first 9 words of the American anthem, but know the first 7 of the Canadian anthem. Okkkay

Americans don?t know what "integrity" is - there was a need to look it up at Webster?s - one of their top searches.

Over 80% of Americans do not understand Roe vs. Wade - 17.6% got it right.

Best of all... wait for it

60% of Americans believe Joan of Arc is Noah's wife.

Classic one was in Florida arranging for a shipment of computers to the Caribbean. We just chatted about the specific island in the Caribbean and it was known that this was just off the shores of Florida.

When it comes to the actual address, the guy then asks, "That's in the Indian Ocean isn't it?"

a few months ago it was covered on cnn that WMD were found in Iraq... seriously!
they were dug up decomposed, rusted missile remains (thats all i remember) from 14 years ago

... but the headline was "WMD found in Iraq" or something serious like that without mention of the fact they were unusable

I think that was just Santorum running some publicity stunt as he is like 20 points down in the polls. The government denied those findings and said the reports was nothing new and that the weapons were very old. Blame Faux News for overhyping that story and Santorum for being crazy, not the government who basically said Santorum is a moron.

They did. Read the news!!! Since the news is biased in the US, you'll have to dig. Maybe the British papers might be a quicker place to look.
Uh... they didn't. The only thing they have found in Iraq were ancient weapons from GW1, most being completely inert (nerve gases only have a shelf life of around 5 years) and unable to do any damage whatsoever. They found some old anthrax as well -- which only has a shelf life of three years. There simply were no 'weapons of mass destruction' found in Iraq this time around lmao.

Of course they didn't mention that, Fox news is fair and balanced

There ya go "defending" - I'm an "ass clown" for listing your own polls???

You are right in that a number of the questions would have a similar reponse in other countries - tho chances are they know where their oil comes from, that bread is made of wheat and that Joan of Arc did not have an intimate relationship with Noah. Ask someone from China and chances are they'd get that right

Sure, they are a range over a number of polls and some were never claimed to be statistically correct - others are. The post was a joke man - don't take it seriously.

PS Another classic.. could not believe it when he first said and thought it was a joke - a young guy thought the monarchy in western countries still executed folks by beheading and explained that's why it's better to have a president
