It looks rather modern, so you can wear it and nobody will know that it is ancient.
Congratulations!

pinky rings are gay... but, other than that its a great buy....

Matt 26z 08-11-2006 05:27 PM

Hopefully this is you, because it's the same exact ring.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ANCIENT-ROMAN-SO...QQcmdZViewItem

And if that is you, I'm sure that place knows the difference between a $2,000 ring and one they can list buy it now for $35.

Yes, I actually was emailing the guy before I knew he used ebay. I came accross his ebay store and emailed him with questions. immediately took top bid on that ring and another one as well. Like I said, he's a bulk dealer. he put's the value at $100. I have since had offers from two collectors whom I contacted with photos to see if it were real, and the highest offer was 2800. It is all in what they know about the history of the ring. i learned alot from one of the collectors i spoke to about this particular ring that the seller doesn't know.

I highly recommend this particular seller. He has some real Gems that he is not willing to do the research to find, he's happy with his $30-$65.

Also If you can grab a Key Ring for under $100 between size 7-10 you will steal it. But it's all relevant. To someone who knows about the markings and can identify certain markings to date items they are worth more. To another guy it's a bronze roman soldier's ring. To some who know the story, it's a whole lot more...

I'm watching a few other items, now everyone on this fuckin board is going to be driving the bids up...thanks for outing me :1orglaugh

These items are a dime a dozen in europe, if you do your homework and ask some professionals occasionally you find that needle in a haystack. the marking and other things tell a story that bulk buyers and resellers may not know because they don't specialize in that era.

Another guy I asked about the ring that quoted me $975 was told he had a counterfeit coin and offered $16 for it when he started. Turned out it was worth $750. You just never know.

wooohooo, and shame on you for trying to piss on my parade. shame!

Digipimp 08-11-2006 06:29 PM

caesar would kill you for buying that on ebay

Search "roman rings" on ebay and you can see most sell for under $200. The only ones that sell for over $1000 are very unique and one of a kind. Your X ring appears to be more common and sells for about $30-$75. Your seller got market value for the ring. There is no way you could resell that ring for $2800. Impossible. MOST collectors are not that stupid. You tell a tall tale my friend. I wouldn't have said anything but your lie about the offer price was so outrageous I just a had to comment. Just more GFY bullshit.

I've been around long enough and my reputation is such that my word is enough. Think what you want if that makes you happy. Fret none my child some day you too will find luck.

RayVega 08-11-2006 06:55 PM

And what the fuck would i gain by telling that i found a needle in a haystack...it seems like an ordinary ring as i said in my own words (a dime a dozen), but the marking which to the untrained or uninterested eye may seem like decore of a common item are actually a clue to a story much more interesting. I have nothing to gain here by saying anything...at $30 or $2000 it's a 2000 year old roman soldiers ring and I am proud to wear it even if it were worth $1.

I really don't know what you have to gain. Some people are just born liars who lie to get attention. Mommy did not give raybaby enough attention as a child? Anyways enjoy your cheap ass ring.

Digipimp 08-11-2006 07:47 PM

all that matters is that its cool to you. all history including roman history is pretty cool to learn about with the exception of american history it's so boring and short. if nothing else you can enjoy it and tell a cool story or at least put an x on a ho's head for getting out of pocket.

MikeVega 08-11-2006 09:18 PM

i think we still have some life left in this one ...i'll give it a bit of a bump for my boy .

Sweet, make sure you switch on the power converter to optimize the temporal effects, going back that far creates loss of photonic energy within the cerebrum. I wouldn't want you to be a vegatable in 1 AD.

sharp 08-12-2006 06:40 AM

hm, interesting..

HpicAnn 08-12-2006 08:15 AM

How much did you pay for it?
