Discuss what's fucking going on, and which programs are best and worst. One-time "program" announcements from "established" webmasters are allowed. |

![]() I was reading a thread that swami posted just a minute ago and thought I would post this thread as a helpful hint to guys promoting programs as affiliates.
There is nothing worse then sending traffic to a program that has done exceptionally well in the past and then all of a sudden goes ice cold. I think we have all been there and I'm sure we will all be there again haha! In my own personal situation (before GTS) I posted galleries and I posted a SHITLOAD of them. I was promoting mostly revshare (COHF) and it was doing awesome! Don't get me wrong this is not a spam thread for COHF (but I do recommend them!). Conversions were going fantastic and then all of a sudden they dropped to like 1:1000 and then down to 1:2000... All of you know this feeling and it sucked! But an old submitter once told me the hardest thing to do is to watch your ratios sink but the best thing to do is to keep your eyes off your stats and work harder. So I did exactly that... Soon enough the ratios turned around and things were good again. By promoting one program extremely heavily it did 2 things for me... One gave me a TON of pages out there in the archive of TGP/MGP's and also got me alot of SE traffic since I had so many pages out there. So my advice to you new guys is to pick a good program that is doing well for you and to stick to that program. Don't be like the rest of the sheep that jump from program to program when things get bad. I call these guys "stock traders" because they simply jump on whatever the next big thing is when it comes out and then dumps it as soon as things get cold. Sure there are guys out there that can make it work but honestly my experience and what I have seen with our buyers is that if you stick to 1-2 programs and work them hard you will have the best chances of success. Anyways just my 2 cents and I help this little tip helps someone out there. ![]() DH P.S. Swami don't take this post as a shot at you because it's not meant to be ![]() |

The longer you promote something, the better you become at it. However, I would also advocate not putting all your eggs in one basket. So perhaps widen this ideology to however many you can handle on a daily basis. Good advice though.

Speaking from experience, I would have to agree and disagree with you. We always kept our core promotions on 'old faithful' but we were always sure to cash in on the next big thing also. There's no harm in having your hands in multiple baskets if you have the time/resources.

WRONG!
Never puty our eggs in the same basket. I promote over a thousand sites. Better advice is ... "work smarter, not harder". |

If before that you were trying to make the more general point that stats can fluctuate wildly in the short term, fair enough. It's apparent from the frequent posts about people having a bad day or a bad week, even a bad month, that many don't understand how clustering can give you good periods and bad ones. Come to that, it's more bizarre that people so often talk about consistent ratios and don't see anything odd that they should be consistent. Still if you merely note changing stats and carry on regardless, that doesn't exactly qualify as taking charge of your business. You cannot just assume that you are seeing a statistically inevitable blip. At least check the tours for changes and even if you see nothing wrong, if the drought proves to be sustained, you must move on. Although hopefully with at least a little thought and not, as you put it, simply following the sheep. |

Their are 1000's of ways to make money the key is to find what works for you and stick with it. If you feel you can take on more then do so.

Interesting thread. I guess everyone does what works for them. I'm glad that we're not all doing the same thing.

First, this is semi good advice, but as mentioned having all your eggs in one basket is foolish as I learned when website billing went flop. I lost 4-500 rebills from that shit and basically had to start from scratch earnings wise. Though I do completely agree with the stick to things through the rough patches, not every day is sun shiney and 1:250 Second, how is this a traffic tip? Isn't it more a lecture in sponsor loyalty?
