Basically this is where I fall on the topic, but more because I don't have the time or inclination to be an Atheist. I mean, some atheists obsess about the lack of a god as much as some religious nuts claim there is a god. Who the hell has the time for that? lol

I live my life, I don't think about the afterlife, if I have a problem I solve it myself...People waste far too much of their life thinking about the afterlife. Established religion is just a bunch of bullshit...seriously when I die and if there is a god and he gets all pissy that I wasn't praying, he's a fucking ego case nutjob that needs psychiatric help and I wouldn't get along with him anyway.

this is an old question. But people believe in God because that makes their life easier.

If God didn't exist, man would have to invent Him. ? Voltaire, 1769

I've been an agnostic once. But I think now that that's the wrong way to go. Here's why:
Being agnostic basically means saying: "What the fuck do we know anyway. We don't know truth. It's just arrogant." The problem with that is that it's an absolute statement and therefore self-contradictory.
You can't really be agnostic, because it's a position that contradicts itself. There's a fundamental difference between saying: "I don't know anything about this particular issue" (because I haven't thought much about it, for example) and saying: "The universe is unknowable."
Doubt, like belief, can't be accepted without proof.
If you have no evidence and believe something nonetheless, you've made a mistake. If you have evidence for something and discard that and belief that, you've made a mistake. The mistake is the same: Ignoring reality.
Agnosticism makes this mistake.

Boy, am I a smartass. :upsidedow

I'm an Atheist... That said I think everyone should be free to think and belive or not belive in what ever god they wish.

I could go on and ask many questions to the people tha belive in god .. but really whats the point.. they will not change my mind and their minds will not change..

Very very well said.

Why?

Faith

Matthew 17:20
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

who are you to judge others?

Drake 08-13-2006 07:32 AM

Personal choice. I don't believe in a God but I cannot say for certain that God doesn't exist. As long as somebody's belief in God doesn't conflict with the laws of my society, I say believe what you want.

People believe on faith. It gives them a sense of purpose, direction, and control over their lives. It serves as a form of structure and guidance for them.
