Good to see the government going after fraud, instead of naughty pictures.

SmutGiant 08-11-2006 12:44 AM

Sly: I think you're thinking about GUBA.

Smokey: Which sponsors promoted moviepass? Can you post some links?

Quickdraw 08-11-2006 12:46 AM

Is Franck back yet?
Loved the way he hit these guys head on-- Wonder what all these supporting sponsors have to say now?

Emphasis mine.

Good call Porn Kings and Epic Cash. Obviously you guys really care about where you send the traffic that affiliates send you. :thumbsup

Two more sponsors I'll never send traffic to.

I pretty much figured it was promoted primarily through exits and/or upsells... I just wanted to know which programs would willingly support something like this. I would think any reputable program would do at least a little research on a product or sponsor before they start promoting, especially if it was a new company or program such as moviepass.tv.

It was clear to EVERYBODY here on gfy they were scumware installing scumbags. Everybody but the sponsors who promoted them. I never seen so much bs in my life coming from those people. And ofcourse no reply from them in this thread. They just hope it dies quick.

Media from Pornkings and who else again?

Dirty F 08-11-2006 02:47 AM

Epicjim ofcourse was also defending them and denying they installed shit. Funny how only people sending traffic were denying it.

onlymovies 08-11-2006 02:50 AM

Why was that original thread locked in the first place?

oh, and 50 back-peddling sponsors

Because they were buying advertising here.

A lot of programs were lying with dogs. It will be interesting to see if any of them get fleas.

One can only hope...

We complain when regulation is forced on us, yet over and over we make it glaringly obvious that we are incapable of regulating ourselves. And every time someone is caught in an indefensible position, it becomes harder to defend ourselves against anything.

The really stupid thing is that over and over people we know are bad for business pop up, supported by this sponsor or that. And NOT ONE of the sponsors in question performs so well that we couldn't replace them all with barely a moment's thought. But do we? Perhaps a few do, but I have the depressing impression that "drama" threads, more often than costing people business, probably bring them more.

One more reason to keep all your sponsor links dynamic and easily changeable.
Funny how the loudmouth "sponosrs" in the other thread(s) about Moviesspass.tv and WebmastersDirect are staying clear of this one.

Do you really expect us to believe that sweet ethical online pornographers would do such a thing?

Just checked and PlatinumBucks, TrafficCashGold and SilverCash are 3 that STILL have the exits.

The silvercash one pops a link direct to webmasterdirect with a code "sc1" in it.

wiggitywack 08-11-2006 02:45 PM

pretty sure these were the same guys that were behind "Go Hip" browser enhancer back in the day.

it only took the FTC 6 years to catch up with them LOL

Webmaster Direct. I swear they skinned the board for a few days and it got taken down. I know of the GUBA situation but this was different. Maybe they just had banners then, but I know it was a huge ordeal.

I remember RageCash said they were going to drop MoviePass after seeing the evidence in that thread a few months back even though EpicJim et al. were doing cartwheels and waving pom-poms in support of MoviePass' practices.

I always wonder why so many people do anything or making money. I understand that the more you make with a program, the harder it is not to promote them. But these paysite owners make enough money already. How much can they make with that exit deal with webmaster direct?, so much more then by promoting another (honest) product?

And if not, who fucking cares. They make so much money already. How much money can you spend anyway.... I wish there were more decent people in this industry. I personally like a lot of people in our industry, but businesswise I condone what alot of them do. There is enough money to be made by not fucking over our customers, especially in the long run. And so what if you make a few bucks less....you won't even notice it.

You are correct, they did skin it; which is when Franck called them out (quite justly).

Just a top banner advertiser?

Kimmykim 08-11-2006 11:15 PM

The plot thickens apparently... skin? no skin? I don't seem to recall one.

They ran a banner campaign here shortly after the big thread on them caused all the hype, but I don't think there was a skin.
