How to end Religion without a major crisis?

they key is making the youth wake up and realize that religion is and has been the cause of a lot of problems for as long as its existed. western youth have been becoming less interested in religion but you got the brainwashing factories running full tilt in the middle east starting them off younger than age six. of course it still happens here too but as the younger generation has kids, less of them will go to church, etc.

A minister asked me once how I felt about the church, I told him I do not believe in cults, he was not really happy about that. Then I asked him to prove to me beyond a reasonable doubt that there is a god and you know what? he couldn't, he just started spewing out a whole lot of crap that really didn't make any sense. I laughed and told him to have fun playing with his imaginary friend, hope he's not too dissapointed when he finds out the truth

People need religion to explain their own short comings and to blame for their mistakes. Without people would have to accept responsibility.

The entire history of man has contained some form of religion and it's always been proven wrong by the newer religions. It's also always been used for an excused to hurt others and harbor hate.

there is a HUGE difference between spirituality and religion. religion makes most people better? in what way? if people need religion in order to not steal, kill or harm others then they are fucked up beyond repair.

What you're saying in your first sentence is something I can agree with. But I think it contradicts your second statement. Religious people are good to the degree that they are only paying lip service to the ideals they have sworn obedience to. Stuff like self-sacrifice for God for example. Only those religious people who are hypocrites are better and they are better to the degree that they are hypocrites. You can't live on earth by the standard promoted by religion as it is directly opposed to everything you need to do to survive.

Those who are fanatics are consistent in their views, they are radicals, which means nothing but the fact that they are true to their beliefs. If you want to see which ideals religion promotes have a close look at what happens when religion is actually taken serious.

You will find that people will abandon reason and promote and enforce blind leadership to an ideal that is directly opposed to allowing man to survive on earth. What is promoted is giving up your life for God, living in poverty, fighting people who don't agree with your beliefs. Take a look at the Dark Ages, take a look at islamic fanatics. That's the ideal of religion carried out to its fullest.

Taking religion serious means promoting Intelligent Design, promoting that the earth is flat and that the sun revolves around the earth. And it involves burning those at the stake who say otherwise.

The best thing that has happened to Christianity was being confronted with the era of enlightenment and the current crippled version of Christianity finally allows people to live happily at least a little bit.

That Islam hasn't really gone through such a period of neutralization is what you can see in all these radical idiots claiming that it is the greatest thing in life to die for the sake of God and kill as many heretics as you can in the process.

And even if you take the violent part out of it, what remains? You promote ideals like turning the other cheek in face of injustice, blind belief over reason, blind obedience over free self-expression, original sin over self-esteem, poverty over wealth, chastity over sexual activity.

What a miserable life you must lead if you truly want to live by these ideals.

They are directly opposed to the what nature demands of man to survive.

My wife is Christian, and while she is an exceptionally brilliant person she has a flaw in believing in invisible men.

I once asked her how she could believe in something that doesn't exist with physical proof. She said "I have faith".

I never bothered asking again and never will. Everyone has the right to believe what they choose. Personally I am agnostic theistic.

Well, you can say there is no prove for the excistance of god, but i say there is also no prove that god doesn't excist. I think god excists and he needs a kick in the ass for all the horrible things he did to mankind, just read the bible and my stomac turns round. True, people taking up their own responsibility is very important. You just can't say oh well i can sinn and Christ died on the cross so i am forgiven. I think people need to excercise their demons in stead of excorcicm them. Finding a balance between good and evil is what i think everybody has to look for. And everybody needs to think this over very carefully, cause the concequenses don't change. People need to stand up and raise their fist to everybody who did them wrong. God is the first one on the list i think. He wiped out entire countries cause the people were not obidient. What would you say if i would kill my child because it refuses to listen to me? I don't think you would be friendly anymore to me. And god does this all the time and it would be all right? Where's the logic in that? So god needed a sinner to blame and cover up his own mistakes. So the story starts that "Satan" was cast from "heaven". Thruth is that "Satan" really is an angel that stood up to god and questioned him. The name is Lucifer, bringer of the light and protector of mankind. Lucifer was fed up with god being so vain and awfull. He walked away himself. So the people who wrote the bible changed the real story and Lucifer became the evil one in "the book of lies". Important is that there is no fear for any god whatso ever. No god should be worshipped, whatever he is called. The same for Lucifer. If you think you have to praise him, you're wrong. Just think for yourself and respect those who deserve respect. It has to come from two sides. It's time that people start to unite against god in stead of killing each other for having another religion. I ate from aple of the tree of knowledge to think about good and evil myself and i don't regret it a single moment. I am not scared about not having an eternal afterlife cause i don't want to be a slave to god or anyone else anymore. I want to live my life to the fullest.

Keep in mind, there is little difference between a Christian and Muslim. One just picked up thier weapons earlier and declared war. And keep in mind that both have taken up weapons and committed acts of terrorism in the past. So when one acts like they have clean hands, its important to remember the truth.
