I placed the order last year and they told my I will get the Speedster during October (this year)... The Speedster is a german car and you can't buy it in the US... It's exclusive, good quality and not too expensive (32,000 Euro = 28,000 US$)...

What do you think about it? Is it cool or do you hate it... (or the germans)...

They are available here in the Uk, but are not selling well at all. In fact Vauxhall (UK name for Opel) are very disappointed with sales, and its mainly due to the fact you can buy a Lotus Elise for the same money and it runs rings round the Speedster (here known as the VX220

Still a damned fine car though!

One problem would be servicing/parts.. If it breaks down, you'll be stuck til the parts make it over here..

UK version

The Speedster/VX220 is built buy Lotus themselves! When it was first released, the motoring press went mad about it, saying it was better than the Lotus Elise, and Vauxhall expected lots of sales because of this.

Then a few months later Lotus launched, with no advance press info or releases, the new version of the Elise. The motoring press went mad again, saying that the new Elise was even better than the Speedster/VX220, and orders for the Speedster/VX220 dried up.

Vauxhall was not pleased

Yes, stick with a Lotus. Sure, opel can put out some sporting stuff, and they have got some race bred stuff, but nothing like Lotus have..

It looks a bit nice.....maybe.....at least on the pics.. When you
see the thing in real live you start gigling...it´s NOT a car......
and it´s certainly not fast.

But for hairdressers that like to go roalerskating and pick up
young guys from the streets I´m sure you´ll make a smashing
impression

opel kind of takes the biscuit when it comes to producing butt ugly cars. unfortunately the entire thing, close up, looks like it is made from lego blocks. it is more suited to being a snow plow than a sports car.

but... uh, each to their own.

It's not as good as Mercedes or BMW, but I have only good experience with cars made by Opel...

A few years ago I was driving a Jaguar XJS and everybody told me it's a bad car, bad quality and so on.... but I can't remember any serious problem with that car.... I don't drive like an old grandfather and did Munich to Duesseldorf (600 Km) in 3 hours (traffic jam, rain, one stop for fuel and open roof included)... Later the car was sold to somebody who is still driving it...
