I'm a camera dummy but how did you get that clear of a picture from a 30 second shutter and exposure time? I just got the 30d and haven't figured it out yet.

In previous years I've taken hundreds of pics to capture lightening. Timing is everything - and when you get it - it is magic!

Congrats on acquiring a fantastic image. Looks to be actually a double strike.

Without it you can't take a 30 second exposure without blur.

last year at the show i was taking a few photos of the view, and luckily on the first snap, a lightning struck... i was so excited i got a shot of it on first snap... haha
