Becoming US citizen and selling porn... problem?

Can they possibly deny you US citizenship for being an adult webmaster (affiliate marketing, just putting links up to paysites on galleries, etc).

I'm talking about someone who was petitioned to live in the US legally and can now apply for citizenship because it's been over 5 years since they lived here and they can now take the citizenship civics test.

I know they also ask you at the interview "Have you ever belonged to any organizations or have any affiliations to any organizations?" If you were a member of the Free Speech Coalition I suppose you would have to disclose that. Would that look really suspicious and could they deny you for that?

Can you be denied for being an adult webmaster, and can it be detrimental to answer that you belong to the FSC? It is technically considered an organization so you would have to disclose it.

They also ask you specifically what you do for a living during the interview.

You are a Internet Marketer and the FSC is very American, they can't deny you for that!

K, I sure hope so. I'm just paranoid with the government not liking porn.

FSC is porn friendly and I guess I was afraid they might research and find that out...

First rule in America is what you say can and will be held against you.

Don't say anything more than necessary. You are an internet marketer. Nothing more, nothing less.

Everyone has their reasons for adopting citizenship bausch.

The last place on earth I'd dream of wanting citizenship for is the US - for several reasons:

(a) Out of all western countries - it is the most unfriendly environment and "unfree" of all in respect of the adult biz.

(b) Depending on which country you are currently a citizen - chances are you will be giving up more rights/freedoms.

No doubts you have your own personal reasons for wanting citizenship, but on a biz level, there is no sense - especially since "internet marketing" gives international opps above any countries.

Thanks a lot for all your advice.

I wonder if any other webmasters faced this, and became naturalized while working as an adult webmaster...

It's cause I want to live here. I don't think I can be a citizen from where I was born because I haven't lived there for over 17 years and I think that particular country revokes it after awhile if you don't live there anymore.

I also don't speak the language anymore and don't want to live there even though it's a liberal place. My life is in the US, I've lived here for almost 17 years!

I could have applied for citizenship ages ago but I never did and I wanna do it now, but I'm hesitant because of the webmaster thing.

If I don't apply for citizenship I might be stateless because I don't think I can be a citizen of my home country either because I haven't been there for 17 years!

Awesome stuff man! Never new any country could simply remove citizen rights because a person does not live in it.

Sure - your life is in the US and sounds like as good a reason as any!

I was mistaken about that, I just did some additional research. I was actually born in Holland. The dutch embassy site said that if you have Dutch citizenship with dual nationality (by this I assume also with US citizenship) and then if you
reside outside of Holland for 10 years you lose your Dutch citizenship.

I was inaccurate in my previous statement. Since I don't have US citizenship yet, my Dutch citizenship is still active. I am not comfortable living in Holland anymore though because I'm used to it here in the US, and all my family is here. I've lived here longer than I did in Holland. I moved here when I was a child and I don't speak Dutch anymore.

Yes, I know having Dutch citizenship is probably better for adult biz, but the thing is that I want to live here and not in Holland because I was raised here and adapted to life over here.

Ah .. got ya!! Yes - any Euro citizenship can't be removed for non-residency (and they can't leave you stateless either).

Hell man - if given a choice, I'd grab that Dutch citizenship as opposed to a US one, tho family considerations may be another matter.

Suppose since you are living under US law anyways and your family are there - it's not such a big deal. But - remember if you want to live elsewhere in future and are a US citizen - the US will have several claims on you - one being taxation in the US and a need to comply with US laws even when not US resident. That is a "little" different to your EU citizenship where there is freedom to go and live where you like - without having to account for stuff like taxes and laws back home.

dumb move...why lose holland citizenship and you're an adult webmaster? If you're here already, what difference does it really make to be a citizen besides not being able to vote?

Because right now I only have a green card and it's easier to travel abroad with a US passport than a green card. Sometimes I do get a bit paranoid that one day they might not let me back in the US after travelling... lol

Set up a "non adult" parent company. Easy!
