laptop + flight thing

is this new rule just for international flights or do i gotta check my laptop in during a flight inside the us?

if its true
i cant imagine tossing a laptop in to the baggage, there will be so many stolen/missing/broken laptops

I heard it effect Heathrow to NYC.

I doubt it sticks. I would imagine they are just insuring any rogue individuals not yet in custody are not on any flights and that copycat crimes do not occur.

Passengers will have to remove their shoes as part of the X-ray screening process. No beverages are allowed on board, including drinks purchased at the airport. Toothpaste, perfume, shampoo, hair gel and suntan lotion are also banned.
