Adult has always stated where mainstream goes, this can be said from the beta to VHS switch back in the days.

No different than todays designers.

You have companies like ExitExchange saying they started pop unders, yet we have been using them for 5 years in the Adult World.

Any true designer can design anything.

Thats like saying a musician cant do cover songs, or a Blues guy cant play Country, bullshit.

my opinion is you are wrong

a designer that does main stream full time can not just jump into adult, they have to adapt to the style

trust me, i have some amazing mainstream and adult designers working for me, and my mainstream guy can't design adult for shit, simply because he is not use to the style that adult designs consist of, and he does awesome mainstream work, no lower then $10k per design so

I agree, I'm sure I could pull out some great mainstream stuff...but adult has a certain style to learn really...

You pay a guy 10k and he cant design Adult too?

Dude I used to paint the sides of building for money during art school, you gonna tell me an artist is limited to one of the other?

Just because the guys you hire cant do both doesnt mean someone else cant.

My opinion is you stereotype artists too much and only believe in what YOUR artists can do and not others.

the people whom i contract him out i charge that much

i can get him for the whole month for that

he can do amazing 3d flash, everything...anybody that knows me well and that i have shown my projects to KNOW my designs are always top notch, with amazing flash, and a very professional level of design.

Nope, if ya read youd see what I said.

I said when one can design it matters not if it be Adult or Non, nothing about jumping into anything.

One cannot jump into ANYTHING and expect to be a master of anything.

I have been in this for years, so I have not jumped in anything, and I base ALL my comments on experience and myself, as I was speaking for MYSELf in the original reply.

If anything i "Jumped into" this almost 7 years ago,... so again I say when One can design it matters not.

You say practice makes perfect, well if one can practice Adult, one can practice the other. I started out doing Mainstream and moved to adult.

Designs can be bought pretty cheap.

Functionality, branding, atmosphere, purpose, these elements count.

Anyone who thinks the teams who designed amazon, disney, pepsi etc. can suddenly come up with good adult designs that actually convert is crazy.

Likewise just because you are good in photoshop and can design a great Hometowmslut.com site, does not mean you understand the necessary architecture for a Citibank site.

Artists will always be cheap, and will be employed and paid by marketers and salespeople, except for the 1% that break through and make decent money. The 0.1% of artists that are really successful make shit loads of money, but in the end you normally find out it was their marketing skills not their art that made them the success. Madonna being a very good example.
