Who likes Hiking?

I'm going on my first hiking jaunt in ten years tomorow, since I've barely been walking a year now. I have no clue what's going to happen. I'm sure I'll be in alot of pain but it should be interesting. Other than a camera and water, what else do I bring.

How long is the hike?

I went on a great hike last year. 40 miles in two days/one night. Meander meadows/kodak peak in western washington state. Tough climb but well worth the effort

To be honest I don't know, It's just me and two friends. I can't walk very far yer, so I'm going to be going at old man pace. I'm sure it's nothing like what you are describing, however that must have been a wonderful experience. Do you have Pictures?

Sturdy shoes, windbreaker, a cell phone with a full battery, and a few candy bars.

Make sure to tell your spouse your intended route.

Most important thing is that you have a good pair of hiking boots. Head over to REI and get some, You'll thank me later.

First leg was a 12 mile stretch through a valley. Then 2 miles straight up

We are going to the top of that ridge straight ahead

A cool flower my friend Shahaf encountered

We just came from the base of that ridge on the right. Also the ridge that'll take us back to the trailhead tomorrow. One massive climbing and descending loop.

Me on the left. Pnina on the right

Meander meadows is a basin in between two peaks. Very serene.

My friend will falling at the perfect time

The begining of the little wenatchee river. (whats left of it during summer) During winter, the entire basin is solid snow and ice and melts to this size

We couldnt find the trailhead to head up the peak so we climbed straight up the face. Took two laborous hours. Once we got to the top we could see the trails...lol

As I headed up the side a bird flew out of the hillside when I got near. I looked in and saw a birds nest filled with babies. Cool pics

We found the path

We reached the top of the peak and Indian head mountain was waiting for us

We came across a deer

Great shot of Kodak peak. We climbed up that like idiots.

Hiking back down the ridge

It's a celebration bitches!

Enjoy

I did a good bit of hiking in Banff and Jaspar, Alberta Canada. The scenery is out of this world, the mountains are so beautiful they don't look real, they look like a giant painting.
