Whats going to be the result of this mideast conflict?

I see Hezbollah (spelling) running out of rockets.
I really don't think they have a serious stockpile of weapons to keep that offensive going for much longer.

I'm interested to see what the ground war develops into...
But ultimately I see Isreal coming out of this thing with the "victory"

Not that I support Isreal or Lebanon...
Just calling it like I see it...

Oh yea and a whole lot of civilian deaths as long as Isreal keeps dropping bombs

Hezbollah's funded by Syria and Iran.
        Israel's funded by the USA.

There's plenty of munitions to be had by all.

Israel has a lot of firepower, which is pretty much useless against guerrillas/terrorists. Meanwhile, every attack on arab civilians will lead to more people joining the idiotic islamist cause. Of course, Israel will never fall to the fundamentalist militias, so to sum it all up, lots of innocent people will continue to die for no good reason whatsoever.

            Humans are a spectacular species.

When you get your chance to study philosophy over many years, I'd like to hear your thoughts on why the human race was bound to fail.

I fear that this conflict is used to set the new map of entire Middle East. I am sure that all the big players want to get maximum advantage from this situation. Israel wants to get rid of all the threats to its existance, US hopes to solve the terrorist supporting problem in the zone and the Iran nuclear threat, Rusia hopes that is its chance to enter back in the superpower game, Iran hopes that they get as much influence as they can, Hizb-allah, Al-Qaeda, Hamas & comp hope to get exposure, strength and support and so on. I doubt that the conflict will end soon, I see too many having strong interest not to. Maybe it's good, maybe it's not, but the so-called Middle Eastern bomb already exploded. We'll see the results.

Israel is going to win, if you determine winning as which side destroys the most targets or kills the most people. Hezbollah will consider it a victory if their organization can survive.

Assuming this war ends in Lebanon, I would guess that the result will be the same result as we've seen from similar wars in the past. Israel expands it's borders a bit, but even more people become radicalized and willing to fight against Israel and the USA. Any idea of peace negotiations with the Palestinians are out the window, remember this war started and is also being fought in Palestine. So we'll see an increase in terrorists attacks against western targets, more support for Hezbollah as it re-arms, and probably even more resources going into attempting another attack inside the US, unfortunately for us.

That is unless they draw Syria and Iran into the fighting. Then we're looking at a decade(s) long war across the entire Muslim world, front lines from Afghanistan to Egypt. It may even spread to places like Korea and Central and South America. This is basically what the American media is cheerleading for. Scares the fuck of me to be honest. I can't see how starting WWIII with us as the aggressors is going to be a good think.

Oh, but the human race isn't failing. War, hunger, death, strife, etc. all serve to weed out the weaker political systems, religions and economic systems. This is cultural evolution at its best - mindless systems fighting eachother and adapting to both their opponents as well as the ever-changing social, cultural and technological context.

In a way, war, the market and ideologies are the driving force behind cultural evolution. Sure, millions may die terrible deaths, but the "fittest" systems survive, spread their ideas and practices, and get the chance to evolve further. The "democratic, secular, capitalist" system, for example, has faced all sorts of challenges (communism, fascism, dictatorship) and came out on top so far. Right now, it is being challenged by religious fundamentalism, which is proving to be quite the adversary - for every battle it loses, it gains a thousand new supporters.

Eventually, the current system will either be overthrown or will change entirely. The system following it may or may not be a pleasant environment for those who live in it, but that does not matter. What counts in terms of cultural evolution is which system is the strongest.

Humanity, of course, could end this pointless process, but in order to do that it would have to give up the wars, strife and hatred it loves so much.

Doesn't sound like a satisfactory solution, does it?

The greatest threat to the middle east is actually being developed right now.

Once the western world has a viable and economicaly feasible replacement for gasoline, the Arab economies will tailspin into financial chaos.

The Royal families that control all the countries over there are then going to have to dip into their own wealth to keep their people content and their control stable. How long will that last without the usual trillions of petro dollars they've gotten addicted to in the past 50 years coming in?

Its going to be interesting to see how it all plays out, but no doubt, it won't be pretty.

Hey Libertine... Do you really think that everyone serves the political system ?

Shit Libertine... talking about heavy stuff... Did you take political studies in school, because some of this stuff is deep! I could follow some of it... I don't know if it is the political system is driving everything or if the people of the lands are... Do you think there is a hidden class system in the world controlling everything or is it just the political system that we see, that is causing all the wars and shit?

                                                      Looking forward to your remarks!
