STD tests won't find it unless it's active. In other words, you can have it and it won't show up on an STD test. You can contract it likewise, even if you don't see any obvious signs of herpes on your partner. A condom helps, but is no definite safeguard. All that is required is skin contact (so your nuts or anywhere else - can have the virus on it and you can catch it that way). I'm concerned about contracting it
