How do solo models handle their 2257?

Do they just list where they live or something?

If its just a solo model with no one else doing the videos then they cant get prosecuted because its just them and they have their own ids', right?

I don't remember seeing a "if-you-are-the-model-AND-the-primary-producer-you-are-exempt" clause.

I didnt ask if they were exempt. I asked if its super easy for them to comply because they just need to list their address and show their id.

it would seem to be absurd that a solo model would have to keep records if she was the only one depicted in her content - but the law makes no exception, so technically she has to comply with the 2257 law which includes keeping records of her shoots. my take on it is that if i were a solo model i'd do zippo - not even this fucking wacky government would throw a girl in jail because she failed to keep records on herself.

Right, except just list where she lives. what kind of records would a solo girl even keep?
Her license ID is in her wallet, look at it and its all set.
Unless she signs a modeling release on herself lol

it's more than that - it's a pain in the ass - 2257 is more than just getting our your wallet and showing them your birth certificate and drivers license - you have to have a database of records covering all your shoots - and cross referenced to any webpage you publish that has that content on it. if the solo model doesn't have an office - works from home - the government is forcing her to reveal her home address for the entire world to see.

like i said - it's absurd - i'd ignore it.

yes, absurd & scary for the model. I had a couple girlfriends that wanted their own sites (1 of them really NEEDS one) and I won't even touch them right now. LOL, that came out wrong. But, right now, the only thing I can recommend for them is "Non-Nude" for now... until after the "shakedown" & the following "shakeout". I don't have time to worry about a knock on my door or theirs, and I'll be damned if I publicly list my home/office address for the world to see.

I run my solo softcore site and I keep a 2257 database. I only have one shoot with another girl, and panties stayed on due to um, issues, lol. But I still have all her info on file, just to be safe, as well as all my own shoots.

I think it's ridiculous, too, but I don't want to be lax and be made an example, of course. I won't list my address on my site, though. I can't get my head around how the premise of 2257 is to protect children yet they expect me to expose my own children to any freak who stumbles across my 2257 page and comes to my door. I'll take my chances with the law on that one. A whackjob won't give me the opportunity to plead my case, but the law does, so I'll go with the lesser of two evils. And I figure the absolute worst case is I go to prison, (and I do think that's unlikely since all my records are in order), and I'd rather risk that then risk my kids' lives.

I've always wondered why they would want solo models (of even photographers) to list their addresses publically, as it would be easy to find someone. 2257 is supposed to protect children... but who/what protects models?

I did it. I had/have multiple signed model releases and a signed contract on Samantha, even though she was my wife at the time. This not only was good for the 2257, but ALSO saved my ass in my divorce when her boyfriend and her tried to take over the company.... NOT.

Since I'm a work at home webmaster my domains and my 2257 list my home address. I have nothing to hide, if someone wants to drop in and say hello, I'm always ready with a hot pot of coffee.

There is no privacy in this job, if some crazy "fan" wanted to they could easily track and stalk a model now.

My biggest question is how do we deal with "shared" content? Content that was shot along with other webmasters during house parties or events we attended to shoot. I guessing here that the "host" of the party would be the primary producer, and everyone else would be secondary? We all received ID's and copys of the releases so should be good there, guess it just another questions for the attorney.

Years ago when I first got into the biz, I operated a few solo sites. When we started doing shared content shoots with amateurs that ran other sites, I was always surprised when some would say "we're amateurs" we don't have to do that.

I shook my head, and then asked them to sign our paperwork and pose with an ID for a photo anyway, which they grudgingly did, since I told them otherwise the shoot was off.

I think there is a fair amount of that naivete amongst some small adult businesses. It was not just 2257, some didn't even want to do model releases, and acted like I was such a geek for insisting on having any paperwork.

Actually, the photographer is the primary producer, so if you have multiple people shooting, they are primary for the pic set that they shot. Everyone else who gets copies to use are secondary.

I've seen some of that backfire on some peers in my niche, so I am careful to always cover my ass, even when shooting with people I hang out with aside from shooting. It's good practice to toe the line. Amateurs won't be at the bottom of the Fed's list forever, and the last thing anyone wants is a fued over shared content a year or two down the road, with no docs to support your rights.

Legally there is more to worry about.

2257 requires you list your place of business. If you use your home as your legal place of business you need a business license. Your neighborhood may not be zoned for home business use, if you rent you could be violating your lease. Are you running a porn business near a school or playground.

Remember, you have stated to the Feds this is your business address .... now you have to deal with local and state regulations.

You are also a few keystrokes away from a local reporter or prosecutor doing a google for "your state, 2257, custodian of records" BOOM there you are. I would bet small operators are more likely to be outed by local publicity hunters than federal investigators .....

Just takes one to start a trend.
