Every combination of the lottery

Is it possible to buy every combination of the big game lotto and profit from it?

Probably not!

Here in canada the biggest one is the 6/49 and it's 6 numbers from 1 to 49...so I guess it makes 49x49x49x49x49x49=13,841,287,201 possibilities?? at 1$ each...even if you win the jack pot (a couple of millions...) you can figure it out....

I am talking about mass production of paid for tickets with a entire warehouse of lottery ticket machines cranking them out 24/7 with 3 shifts of employees running them.

If that were possible I believe investors would do it all the time, I am not certain, but to profit from it, I guess the pot would have to be very high! Were your educated in Paradise?

Actually it was already attempted like 4-5 years ago.

A group of investors got together and hired people to start filling out all of the lotto cards. Each individual was responsible for its own seperate combination list.

When it came down to "last call" for getting your entries in, they were only able to get about 75% of the tickets in. They still ended up winning but there was that chance that they were going to lose.

I think some sort of law went in affect after this that prohibited such activities.

Quite. Lotteries are like any other gambling, but with much worse odds.

They only pay out a fraction of what they get in so if it costs you $200m to buy every ticket you won't be very smug when you get a winners check for $120m over the next 30 years or something stupid.

not to mention how much it'd suck if you somehow guaranteed yourself a win, and you had to share it with 4 other people who just had dumb luck.

I did the math a few years ago with the 6/49 lotto and if you spent one minute per car filling it out, working 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, it would take a little over 15 years to fill out all of the cards to cover every combination.
Then you have to factor in the time it would take for Linda Lou down at the BP store to run em all through for ya..

No tax in Canada on lottery or casino wins, it's considered a windfall not a capital gain.

It's not even counted as income at the end of the year?

In the US, I think that you can reduce your lottery winnings by the amount you spent to get those winnings. The difference would be taxable

the odds should be better than the payoff

ex. 1/80,000,000 should pay out at least 80 million to break even
anything after that is profit

if you do that, you also got to watch out for other winning tickets, they would reduce the payout amount
