Why do processor don't verify validity of email ???

Like I got this CB ( my second in the year )... The email bounces back, so probably a stolen card or something ...

But if the processor would implement a confirmation system ( like when you register to a forum ), it would at least require a valid email .. I agree, it is not much of a safety, but it is a supplementary step that could filter out a few fraud cases .... Quote:

Frauders would only make real free email accounts and you'd loose a certain percentage of the sales...

the logged IP address should be enough to give a collections team direction, with the exception of them defrauding you from proxies or public access points.

If the email receipt bounces why dont you refund that transaction yourself. You have to fight your own chargebacks so get to work.

It bounced back to paycom, not to me Am I going to send an email to every signup to verify the validity .... The point is not to track down the fraud, but to prevent the chargeback, by refunding when it is a doubtfull transaction.... Anyway, not the place to discuss this.

In the Netbilling system, you as the merchant have the ability to reject trasnactions if the emails bounce. It is one of our custom fraud tools that is available to you.

Adding such a step seems like it would cause more problems than it would solve. It's going to deteur only the laziest of the laziest fraudsters since it's so simple to open up a free email account anywhere. In additonal, something like this might deteur legitimate signups since its another annoying step and the email will likely get delivered to the spam/bulk inbox or blocked outright due to the fact that the nature of the email is adult. One way that might work effectively would be to "flag" the account for manual review if just the email bounces.

netbilling has a option to verify emails but I do not use it, the reason is some ISP's, like AOhell and servers using services like spamhaus, blocks lots of email causing them to bounce back, so using a email bounce system can cause you to lose lots of sales. You do not have to be a spammer to get caught up in having your email blocked any more.

upon request, CCBill can provide email validation before the completion of a signup, for credit card transactions or online checks

imo, I recommend this feature for checks
