Why aren't affiliate sign up pages secure?

Everyone is about protecting personal data, but every time you sign up to be an affiliate you give your details on an unsecured page.

So why dont all these sites that use NATS or other non 3rd party billers use a secure page for entering personal data to sign up?

SERIOUSLY, one of my biggest pet peeves. I have only signed up with affiliates who have secure registration pages and there aren't that many

I dont recall any outside of ccbill.

Kinda pissing me off with all the identity theft going on, I really think twice about signing up sometimes.

Very unprofessional. I wont put my ss# into an unsecure form.
If theyre that bad with affiliates sensitive data, imagine how bad they are at tracking your sales.

This should be a mandatory thing which involves personal or business data exchange strictly over https protocol (ssl cert.), everyone will be safer on both ends. seriously.

This should be mandatory, hell it should be something program owners want to have.

I can not find a NATS site that has a secure sign up. Hmm actually I cant find any non ccbill sites that have a secure sign up. Even the big ones that have banners here do not have a secure sign up.

What really bugs me is when signing up for a CCBill sponsor, you have to put your CCBill login/pass onto the sponsor site. I think that should be done on a page hosted by CCBill.

View the source - it posts the form to https://affiliateadmin.ccbill.com/signup.cgi . I check every time before submitting; I certainly wouldn't be allowing my ccbill login details to pass via a third party site.

might not be a big deal if you have an office address + company set up, but if you're putting a home address and an ssn you're taking a risk.

I agree, everyone's sign-up pages SHOULD be secure; there is no reason for them not to be either.

It doesn't make any sense...especially considering that an ssl cert. is only 86 bucks.

ssl certs can be had for like 20 bucks.. not to mention they could just self-sign.. we'd all hit "accept", anyways..

Your right, I dont, I have an incinerator though. shreders are useless unless you get a crosscut one anyways.
