Of course you're not a moron. People spend time and money building a site for a girl and then close it down 3 days later all the time. I think Lightspeed does that on a monthly basis.

I'm glad you kept your friendship and learned not to work with friends. It still doesn't do much for your reputation which in my book, would be completely shot. When you put up a site and ask for affiliates, you better have your ducks in a row. It's not a game to some of us, it's a business. When people spend hours putting up galleries and links, they don't usually like to hear that it was all a waste because the program owner didn't have their shit together.

As for the last line, I think it summed up your business sense. Less affiliates = more money for you? Sounds like maybe you should shut down the whole program and you'll have all the money. Maybe you should get the word out to all the stupid programs on the board who are promoting their affiliate program and making less money buy bringing in more affiliates.

I know that sometimes what people say on here acn hit a nerve, but don't take the Abby Winters approach and piss people off. Your "more money for me" statement was in the top 10 worst things that you could say on here.

It is very difficult for a program to thrive without affiliate traffic and showing that attitude, even if it was prompted by agression, is NOT the way to win friends and influence people to promote your sites.

Mmmm hmmm. I'm just going to use the campaigns for another sponsor, though .. it only takes like 3 days to change over ... it's not much money lost, just annoying. It was only doing 10 or so signups/day on that traffic anyway.

Any billing system that tracks solely with cookies (as would be the case in this situation) will be unable to track a LOT of sales. Far too many people have cookies disabled due to a misguided worry about security.
