Going to buy a notebook 15" Pentium mobile, which one is better for notebooks? Dell or Toshiba?
Notebooks: DELL or TOSHIBA?

I've had a Toshiba Satellite for 2 years with no problems whatsoever.
Both are good choices.Comment

Dell shipped my Inspiron DOA, so I couldn't tell you there, unfortunately. My Satellite lasted like 3 years, but I upgrade my laptop/PC every 3-6 months, so the "older" ones only get turned on once/year or so after they're "retired" .. hehe.
Macbook Pro is spectacular, especially for Windows XP -- runs it very nicely.Comment

My opinion is that you need to actually see and touch the laptop you are going buy.
Do you like the feel of the keyboard?
Are the keys in the right place and the right size?
Most importantly, does the laptop in question run hot? You would be amazed at the differences in cooling power between brands and even between individual models of the same brand.
A laptop that overheats is probably one of the biggest problems facing laptops today. Also, hot laptops can make you sterile.
IBM for durability.
Sony if you have other Sony Gear.
Sharp has some great laptops, as well as Fujitsu.
Dell, supposedly the best service. (probably because they are good at selling laptops that break?)
Most other brands you would have to look at each model individually as they vary greatly between each model line.Comment

toshiba hands down. Every toshiba I've ever had, all the way back to my T3200 luggable 286 has been great and lasted forever.
Seriously the best hardware on the market.
Currently I have a toshiba tablet and it really takes a beating and I've had no problems with it.Comment

I have a Toshiba Satellite and it needs better hardware... I guess the answer lies in what you will use it for... my Toshiba gets run ragged and cant keep upComment

I've got the Toshiba Satellite A105 dual. Fairly light weight (6 lbs) and extremely fast. The left click for the mouse is sticking from use, not jerking off and it's less than 2 months old. Oh and the finger print scanner function is crap. But the screen on it is BEAUTIFUL.
But it all depends what you want it for... graphics, just email, light application? I'd avoid anything over 6lbs and make sure you check the battery life.ISLAND DOLLARS

I disagree -- Hyundai is only a tiny bit worse than the shitty Lexus cars, but some of the laptops are a LOT worse than the top brands.Originally posted by ChargebackJoeIt is like asking Hyunday or Lexos ?
Lexus exists so middle-class people and "new money" can own a fake luxury car. Certain laptop brands don't try to hide their pedigree. What if Lexus, for example, was marketed as the company who makes them -- Toyota. Whould it be a "status" symbol to own one?Comment

Toshiba. They have always been the best for notebooks. I think if you research online you will find that. I have one from 1998 that still works, and I think it was used when I got it.
I just ordered a new Tablet PC Customized it was around 3k.
I also have a Toshiba notebook that is about 1 1/2 years old. I have dumped a cooler of water on it, and dropped it several times.
Still runs great
I did have to get a plug replaced last year. I dropped it off at a ups store and they delivered it to my house about 3-4 days later. No hassles at all with customer service, they setup everything in a 5 min phone call. Not like some companies that will make you tear apart everything until they are sure that it is broke.
And I have 10 dells, they suck. Dell's service, sucks.Comment

I'd say DELL is far more better than Toshiba, especially their XPS M2010.
